Does your LCD screen have a dead pixel on it? This means that there is a spot on the screen that either always stays black or always stays lit. It can be rather annoying, but luckily, it is usually easy enough to fix a dead pixel.

The first, easiest step you can take to fix your LCD screen is to try running pixel fixing software. You just buy the software and install it. If this works, then you are done. If the software doesn't work, then you can also try the pressure method.

To try the pressure method of fixing dead pixels, you should put some sort of sticker on the outside of the monitor to mark where the stuck pixel is. Then, turn off the monitor. Get a damp washcloth, and a pen or a pencil. Make sure the pen or pencil does not have too sharp of a point, because a sharp point will damage the screen. The best tool you could use to fix your monitor would be a PDA stylus, if you have one, because it is not too pointy at the end. Cover the screen with the washcloth to help protect the screen. Then, push lightly on the monitor with the pen on the exact spot that you have marked with the sticker.

You want to only apply pressure to the dead pixel, because putting pressure on other parts of the screen could actually harm it and create even more dead pixels. Continue to put pressure on the pen, and then turn on the computer and the monitor. Once they are on, you can stop applying pressure, and hopefully, the dead pixel will be gone.

 
If the pressure method also doesn't work, then try the tapping method. You do this method by first turning on the computer and monitor. Display a black image on the screen. This will make it really easy for you to see the dead pixel. Then, find a Sharpie marker with the cap on. If you do not have one, a pen with a rounded end will also work. Use the rounded end to gently tap where the stuck pixel is.

Look for a small white glowing spot underneath where you are tapping. If you don't see the white glow, you will need to tap a little harder. Slowly increase the amount of pressure you are putting on the monitor and tap five to ten times, until the pixel starts working. Finally, display a white image, such as an empty text document, to make sure that you actually fixed the dead pixel. If none of these methods work, grab the sledgehammer...
