Learn How A Scratch Can Be Easily Fixed With Nothing More Than Petroleum Jelly And A Cotton Bud

Unless a huge gouge has been taken out, a scratch could be simply fixed with nothing more than petroleum jelly and a cotton bud found in most bathrooms. Who’d have thought finding out how to repair LCD scratches could be so easy!?

Before anything else, ensure the monitor is powered down and unplugged from all power sources. Next, take a moderately dampened cloth, (ideally dampened with distilled water), and gently wipe the entire surface of the screen.

This process should be repeated on a weekly basis for excellent screen maintenance.

The screen should air dry with no other involvement in a matter of minutes. If you have used a cloth a little too damp, simply wipe over the surface again with a dry, lint free cloth.

Take your petroleum jelly, and apply liberally to the scratch, or scratches using the cotton bud. Gently work the jelly into the scratch being sure that no air pockets or areas are missed. Pay careful attention to the beginning of the scratch, which will be shallower.

Once satisfied the entire scratch has been filled, quickly remove any excess jelly with a clean and soft cloth. Again, this could be slightly dampened, but only very slightly. If unsure, just use a dry cloth – it will work perfectly well. When removing the excess, be sure to be gentle, and do not remove the jelly from the scratch; it is essentially acting as a filler.

Reconnect your monitor and switch it on, the picture should now be free of any indiscretions caused by the scratch, thanks to the petroleum jelly being very close to the compound of the LCD itself, and thus reflecting the light more effectively.

As mentioned above, you can clean your screen just as effectively with a damp cloth, than through any marketed cleaner. Repeated at least once a week, dust and other dirt will easily be removed, which will reduce the likelihood of scratches in the future.

It could also be worth investing in a screen protector, which helps reduce glare and repels scratches, thus reducing the need for having to know how to repair LCD scratches in the first place!
