How To Fix My Credit Score

How to repair my credit

This is a question I get searched thousands of times a month on the Internet. Because the economy is so bad, and so many people are getting laid off and losing their jobs, people are defaulting on their loans and can't make the payments on all of their financial obligations. This is caused a landslide in people's credits score getting destroyed. So, you may be in that same position and you're trying to figure out how to repair your credit. Let's begin our little credit repair guide.

How can I raise my credit score? There are some simple things you can do and some simple steps you can take to fix your credit score and improve your credit worthiness. What are the steps that I need to take to repair my credit score?

The downside to credit repair is that once you credit score is on the slide, going down is way easier than working your way back up. There are, a lot of things you can do in order to raise your FICO score also known as your credit score.

Why should I bother to fix my credit score? Well, the economy we are in revolves around credit and, there are just many things in your life if you're going to need that you won't be able to pay for with cash up front. That's why credit is so important. Ever try looking for loans for people with bad credit?

The problem that arises when you have poor credit score or have bad credit is that you pay more for that credit. The way you pay more for your credit is in the form of higher interest rates. The lower your credit score the higher the risk you are to any length or that you may not pay back the loan. In general, credit scores range from 300 to 850 points. The average median score is 723. If you want to get the cheapest credit rates and lowest interest rates, especially for things like credit cards, mortgage loans, refinancing, student loans, home equity lines of credit etc. you really need to have a credit score in the low to mid 700s.

Basically, your credit score is an average of the information that is collected by three major consumer credit agencies. And, each of these agencies does calculate its for a little bit differently. Because of this, that is why the weighted average is used to determine what your credit score will be.

The first step in learning how to repair your credit is to get credit report to see what it looks like. The first kid to do is check to see that all of the things that are reported on your credit report are accurate and correct. So, how the heck do I do that? can search the Internet for information and also talked to credit repair specialists but here's the quick answer.

What you will need to do is get your credit report all of the three different agencies and review what was reported. You can actually get a free credit report once a year from annualcreditreport.com as this website is set up and federal law requires that you can get access to a free credit report once a year. Just be careful, you do go to this site they will try to get you to sign up for a credit card credit monitoring service. If you sign up for this that your credit card will be charged for the service. Do not sign up for this just get your free credit report.

Take a look at your credit report and see if there are past due payments that she actually did make a time. Find out if there are accounts that are listed that have actually been closed already. For a worst-case scenarios sometimes other people's information shows up on your credit report. You can also check to see if someone has stolen your identity has been using your information to open up accounts in your name.

Once you've gone through your credit report, you want to make sure you take notes on all of the things that you need to report or dispute. Don't take all of the discrepancies and send them to the credit reporting agency to have them remove the improper credit marks. You should get a response within three days.

One of the things that I do or recommend doing is checking your credit score again in 30 days. Now, at this point you will have to pay for a credit report there is a benefit for setting up for a credit monitoring service. Pull your credit report again to make sure those things that are not supposed to be there or take it off. If they are not, resent paperwork to all of the three are courting agencies to get that correctly.

While it is not exactly known what the calculations are from figuring out your credit score, in general, you can assume that the words or more negative reports you have on your credit the lower your credit score will be.

Okay, let's review.
