What You Need

One of my hobbies is watching movies at home. That's why I learned to set-up my own cinema. Now if you want to turn your living room into a cinema, just follow these easy steps. But, first here is the list of what you need to put up your own home cinema:

1.) A television (TV)

2.) Portable DVD player or any DVD player

3.) An AV receiver or amplifier (5.1 channels)

4.) Video cable(s)

5.) An optical or coaxial digital audio cable

6.) Surround sound speakers

7.) Speaker cable

Now here's what you will do. First, setting up the video side. You need to hook up your DVD player to your TV using the video cable. At the back of your player, there's a video output socket colored yellow. Connect one end of the video cable to this socket. The other end, connect it to the video input socket, again colored yellow at the back of your TV. By the way, it is better if you use a high-grade, gold-plated coaxial digital cable than ordinary ones because believe it or not, they really do make a noticeable difference in performance. Now the player is hooked up to the TV, you need to check that it's outputting video properly. Go into the player's set-up menu, ensure that the correct video output type is selected.

DVD Player To Your Amps

Now its time to hook up your DVD player, amplifier and speakers. First connect your DVD player to your amp using a single optical or coaxial digital audio cable.

Speaker Placement

For the speakers, place the center speaker just above or below the screen. The front sound speakers positioned it to the left and the right of your screen, and the surround sound speakers at the back of the area where you think your usual position would be, both sides. All speakers must have the same height as the center speaker in the screen.

Now using the pliers, you need to cut your speaker cable to your desired lengths. Then you can connect it to the terminals on your amplifier or receiver. Just be sure that when you wire them, the wires of the positive terminals of your amp is connected to the positive terminals of your speaker. Then do likewise with the negative wires and terminals. Now, when placing the sub-woofer, connect first the sub up as normal and put it down where you will position yourself. Put a DVD on, and walk around the edges of the room until you found the spot where the bass sound is most effective. This spot is where you should position the sub.

That's it, it's so easy. Now you can enjoy watching your favorite movies with a feeling of a cinema right at your own home.
