Sharing WiFi

Here is a very cool way to share WiFi. Even id you are traveling overseas.

What if you want to share your WiFi with friends or neighbors? I bet you have never really thought of this have you? Maybe you live in an apartment and you want to save money with some of the other tenants. How would you go about doing this?

One of the things you can do is use JiWire. JiWire does a couple of things as related to WiFi. They have a public hotspot directory that shows fee and paid. There are over 200K hotspots in the directory. They also have a broadband advertising network.

Use FON.

How is this different from just a regular wifi router you buy from a store? It's all about sharing folks. You can use the "FON". The Fon is a router that transmits 2 signals. If you connect it to a cable modem you can set it up for just internal usage. You can set up a second signal to be shared with others. If you have purchased a FON box you can log onto the FON web site for free. If you haven't made a purchase, it will only cost you $3. You pay no subscription after you purchase your wifi router.

Carry your little wifi electronics router around with you when you travel When you are near someone else who uses the FON wifi router, you will be able to log on and share the internet with them on their line for free.

You can even use your wifi router in Europe. You can check out the web site to see the available spots in Europe. Wifi is very expensive in Europe. If you go to a cafe and get online, you may pay through the nose for internet access. If you are not sure, check the map on the web site just to be sure about wifi sharing and hotspots.

$50 for a lifetime of sharing for your wifi electronics is a very good deal in my opinion. You can even make money from your wifi sharing. If someone logs onto your FON account, they have the option of using paypal to access the internet. You will receive 50% of the revenue. How cool is that?

What is La Fonera?

The La Fonera is FON’s own, specially designed WiFi router. It gives you wireless access to the Internet like the other top wireless routers on the market. La Foneras are cool looking routers about the size of your hand and, of course, they create a wireless network for your laptop and other WiFi enabled devices to connect to a single internet connection at speeds of up to 54 Mbps.

What’s even cooler, La Fonera is not just any router; it is also a WiFi sharing community. La Fonera lets you share a bit of your broadband Internet connection with others, and in return, you get free access to the FON Spots of everyone else who is sharing. That’s more than 300,000 locations worldwide and growing fast. With our routers, you join the world’s largest WiFi community! In effect, the La Fonera router is both a powerful WiFi router and your passport to a worldwide community of people who are making WiFi universal and free.
With the community WiFi router, La Fonera+, it allows everyone to share WiFi in a secure environment. It takes only five minutes to hook up, and then you’ve got WiFi at home and around the world for free!

The great thing is that it's super easy and you don't have to be a geek to use this.

The La Fonera is an autonomous network device. No software installation on your PC or notebook is needed. Any configuration is browser based, so there are no operating system dependencies of any kind.

La Foneros connect to community FON spots for free!

Non Sharing Foneros can connect by buying FON Passes. And, everyone can take advantage of the new Partner Hotspots by buying FON WiFi Credit.

In your own neighborhood, down the street or across the world. FON makes it easy to share and never be without a wifi hotspot again.
