So You Think You Know How To Shop

Many people think they know how to shop, but do they know how to shop "smart"? Obviously, this holiday season is looking a little rocky when it comes to many people's bank accounts. So why not learn how to save money while getting the gifts you want? One of the positive aspects of our declining economy is that retailers are working harder to get your business. Yes, this is a plus. At least for we, the consumers. I always try to find good deals, regardless of the time of year but everything ramps up before the holidays. So, just how DO you shop smarter?

Do you shop at work on Cyber Monday?

Finding the Best Deals

Although many retailers create great discounts during the season, sometimes the word just doesn't get out. Cyber Monday ads are popping up everywhere and almost always these Cyber Monday deals are really, really good deals. However, some retailers try to market to people who don't want to get caught up in the Cyber Monday madness and who shop at their own pace. So, how do you find these deals??? I like to check out shopping blogs and usually depend on my social networking friends to inform me of good deals. If you are on Plurk, you should check out The Master of Savings. She seems to have great volume and accurate promo codes for special holiday deals. Without relying on others...how can you find deals for yourself? The best way is to go to major brand sites and sign up for their newsletters. Major online retailers make a point to send promo codes and special "secret" sales to their newsletter subscribers before releasing deals to the general public. These "Friends and Family" discounts are usually at least 10% more off than the public offer, so you can really clean up. You might be able to get a really great price before anyone else knows about it (other than their other subscribers). The thing to do is keep your eyes peeled and your finger on the pulse of the retail industry. So...what are you waiting for? Go save yourself some money this holiday season with the power of COUPONS!
