How To Spot Nofollow Links In Websites
57Check For Nofollow Attributes In a Web Page
If you are actively building backlinks to your website, then you may want to visually check to see if your link contains a "nofollow" attribute. The "nofollow" attribute keeps the link from passing pagerank to your page and is ignored when most major search engines rank your website.
Having a link from a site that uses "nofollow" attributes is not going to help your page rank. The best thing to do is to actually check for these link types before you take any action towards obtaining the link...In other words, look before you link!
If you are an article marketer, you may find that there are lots of article directories that use the "nofollow" tags on all the author bio links. Before we get all angry and frustrated, we must understand that some article directories use the "nofollow" links to help control spam links.
They apply the links across the board due to the sheer number of spammy links they receive. Some article sites do not use this type of link attribute in the bio links so for the time being it is best to look for and submit to these directories.
How do you know if the site is using "nofollow" links? Well, the hardest method would be to examine the source code and see if the "nofollow" attribute has been applied either inline in the anchor tag itself, or you would have to examine the CSS code to see if the link attribute is applied via a CSS rule.
The absolute easiest way to spot nofollow links in websites is to use the firefox extension that I developed just for this purpose. Introducing Knofollo...a super easy way to spot nofollow link attributes by highlighting them so they are very easy to detect.

Post You Knofollo Comments And Questions Here
Thanks for the comment. I know there are several firefox extensions that offer similar features. FYI...I usually try to avoid any extension that generates automated queries to google. Google does give developers an API to access certain data, but you should make sure that the extension you use is authorized by Google to submit automated queries. Thanks again for the input, Kerry
good hub lot of nice info
I see a hyperlink with strikethrough after using Knofollo. What does that mean? "DoFollow" or "No Follow"?
Timeshare relief, There is nothing in the Knofollo extension that would cause a strikethrough. If you had other extensions installed then it is possible the style sheets may be still active for the other plugin and cause you to see the strikethrough.
If you have other similar extensions installed, then try uninstalling the others and see what happens. There may be conflicts if two extensions are installed. You will just have to decide which one you like the best and disable the others.
