If you are setting up your own website or blogsite, the work is not yet over until you have submitted your site's URL address to the search engines, especially the three top search engines, Google Search, Yahoo! Search, and MSN Search.

There are other search engines and it would be more prudent to submit your sites to these other search engines.

Besides submitting to the different Search Engines, you may also need to submit your website to the different Search Directories including the popular Technocrati. This is necessary for increasing your website's PageRank.

I will write a new article later about these Search Directories.

Why do we need to submit?

Once your website is up and running and typing your domain name on the address bar of your browser brings up your website, no one knows about your website other than you. You need to tell others about the existence of your website and tell them the domain name. You tell everyone that you meet: "Hey, I have a blogsite. Go to 'www.myblognooneknows.com' and see my latest blogs"

An alternative is to submit your website's URL address to the search engines so that people can find your website. It is true that every search engine has a program called a searchbot (they go by different names as you may have guessed: googlebot, yahoobot, msnbot) that scours the internet for all the websites they can find, but they sometimes get too busy working to find your website.

It could possibly take the bots weeks if not months to find your website if you do not submit it to the search engines.

How do I submit the URL address?

It is very easy to submit and so there is no reason why you would not take the time to submit your website's URL address. All you need to do is go to their respective website submission page and type in your website's URL, click the submit button and it is done. It is that simple.

I have included the links to the different search engines submission page below to facilitate your submission.
