How To Tell Your Lover That You Infected Them With A Sexually Transmitted Disease
74Speak No Evil
Mary Jane is in the bed next to her sleeping lover and is in a cold sweat; yet her blood is boiling in fear for she was told by her physician that she has Gonorrhea. She is sure that she has infected her lover, and may have caught the malady while she was cheating on him. She wonders what will happen when she tells him will he thank her or give her a Karate Chop?
Nevertheless the news must be told. In the old day the Health Department would send a posse over to tell the person the bad tidings that they had been infected, but those days are gone with the wind. Now even if someone purposely infects you with HIV in some states the person can be criminally charged in others that is not the case. However methods about how to tell someone that they were infected with HIV by you will not be discussed in this article because the nature of the disease poses different circumstances than a run- of- the- mill STD.
As a Counselor/Caseworker working with persons with HIV/AIDS and counseling them about practicing Safer Sex other interventions may be necessary as I found out when I counseled a couple where one was HIV positive and the other was not who were adamantly against condoms; this was not for religious reasons.
Despite the modernity of western society, when it comes to sexual mores, the culture is peppered with puritanical ism. So much so that the thought of another person having sex in other than the missionary position send chills up these prude's spine; look at the big brouhaha over gay marriage and sex.
Thus you may hit a nerve when you talk to some people about sex, even someone you're having sex with. Some couples are mum about the sexual delight they prefer for fear of being ostracized as pervert-others have been told in no uncertain terms that they are not into this or that by their partner and as a result seek thrills with other folks.
Add contagion to the mix of the sexual arena and you may be dealing with a life threatening situation even if you're not dealing with AIDS, some people will take it badly if they think they were infected by someone. Hence you must be wise and diplomatic as Mata Hari the noted spymaster when dealing with your partner and the deed should not be taken lightly.
However whatever method we choose we should do so in accordance with your knowledge of your partner. For instance, is that person violent, emotionally fragile; will your actions create the potential for a Heart Attack or Nervous Breakdown?
The following may be of use to you to break the bad new:
- Cook a nice meal with good drinks and after he is a little mellow break the bad news.
- If you're afraid take the person to a public place maybe near a police preceint
- Send an anonymous text, letter or email.
Below is an example of an anonymous text, letter and/or email which you may use
Dear Sir or Madam:
Someone told me you might have a Veneral Disease/STD...Please get tested.
Sincerely
Concerned Human Being
You may need to leave the tech stuff alone and let someone break the news to your beloved-a person of stature in her eyes may do and the following may do the job:
- Ask your doctor to inform your partner
- Ask you clergy if you have one
- Ask your parents and/or hers to break the news-if it's possible.
- Make a Video apologizing for transmitting the disease
An Sexually Transmitted Disease is not a joke and is not your friend; if you transmitted it to your friend it's your duty to let it be known so that that person can be treated. We should all try to practice Safe Sex and be monogomous as this will limit the spread of STDs
