In life, there are things you want to be sure about. You want to be sure that the waiter at a restaurant got your order right. You want to be sure than you're sending your kids to a good school. You want to be sure that you are pursuing the right career path. And you want to be sure of whether or not you are pregnant.

If you are trying to figure out whether or not you have a bun in the oven, here are some things you can do to try to find out:

  1. Take a home pregnancy test: They come as cheap as one dollar at the Dollar Store (although I would recommend something a little more expensive so you can be a little more certain. Try EPT or First Response for a quick, easy and accurate pregnancy test result). It's often something as simple as urinating on a small stick to tell you if you're expecting. There is usually a simple symbol signifying your results for example red means you're not pregnant, blue means you are or plus means your pregnant and minus means you're not. Check the box for instructions!
  2. See your doctor: It may be more expensive than a home pregnancy test, but it's definitely more accurate. Doctors can do bloodtests and/or sonograms to see what's going on inside your body. From a doctor, you can find out anything from how many babies you're expecting, whether you're having a boy or a girl, if the baby has any congenital diseases to when the baby is due. A doctor is a great resource for a woman who thinks she may be expecting!
  3. Listen to your body: Your body is a wonderful machine that will often let you know if something is not right with it. There are several signs that you can watch out for, if you think you may be pregnant that could indicate that you do, in fact, have a bun in the oven. If you are experiencing one or more of these symptoms, chances are, you may be pregnant:
  • Abnormal period: If you find that your mentrual cycle is acting strangely. This could be that it's late, more frequent, or not coming at all. This could be a sign that something isn't right. You may want to get a pregnancy test or see a professional to be certain.
  • Morning sickness: If you find yourself feeling nauseous in the mornings and vomitting inexplicably, this is also a sign that something's wrong. If this happens several times, consider it a sign that you may be pregnant.
  • Soreness or enlargement of breasts: If you find that your breasts feel tender or sore, or perhaps they look bigger to you it may be indicative of something going on in your body. This coupled with any of the other signs I've mentioned is a strong indicator that you may be pregnant.
  • Frequent Urination: Going to the bathroom a lot could be a sign that something (perhaps a fetus) is pressing down on your bladder. There are other diseases or causes of frequent urination, so this alone is not a strong indicator of pregnancy.
  • Strange cravings: This is a often satired issue with pregnancy. People often joke that when you're pregnant you crave something like pickles and ice cream. However, there is a whole range of possible cravings and ways to crave food. It can range from just smelling food and wanting to have a taste to making outlandish food choices that may be harmful if they alter to drastically the diet of the mother and the baby. If you find yourself changing the way you eat then, You might be preganant!

I hope this gave you a good litmus test of whether or not you should be picking out cribs and rattles. And remember, if you don't want to need this list, always use protection! ;-)
