Adding videos to your hub in HubPages is one of the many great ways to optimize your Hub. And good videos help attract visitors to your Hubs. Like the saying “a picture paints a thousand words”, therefore, a video which is “moving pictures” will leave you speechless!

The Starting Out With Hubpages Guide does not show you how to add videos to your Hubs. This tutorial aims to guide you through the procedures to add videos to your hubs and also offers some useful tips to help you optimize your hubs for greater traffic and effectiveness.

When you add on the video capsule in your Hub, HubPages give you four options to insert videos: YouTube, Google Video, Revver and Metacafe videos.

Inserting videos to your Hub is very simple and the procedure is the same and it involves only 3 steps which will be explained in detail later on.

Before you rush off and get all those interesting videos into your Hubs, here are some tips which can help optimize your Hubs to generate more visitors to your Hubs:

1. YouTube, Google Video, Revver and Metacafe are all free video sharing sites. You can download videos and post them to your Hubs or other websites without restrictions. You don't have to be a member to use any of the videos. But it is highly recommended that you become one as you will have more control over what you want to show on your sites. After all, membership to all four sites is free. And you can also upload your own videos and share them with millions of Internet users.
2. Using your own videos in your Hubs give you the added advantage of adding a back link to your sites. When you are uploading videos to the video-sharing sites, you can add links to your Hubs at the video profile or description window. But be forewarned!. Do not have more than one or two links to the same site or you will be flagged for overly promotional and your Hubs will not be published!
3. If you are apprehensive about making your own videos, don't be! They are very easy to produce, and you don't have to own a video camera , a digital camera, video clips or pictures etc. You can get all the free resources from the Internet to easily produce home-made videos that are just as good as the paid-for programs. 4. Always search for and post videos that are relevant and complement the topic in your Hubs. It's a great turn-off to watch videos that are totally unrelated to your topic. On the other hand, a good video will make your Hub much more interesting and get the readers to share the link with their friends.

Okay, now let's move on to the first video-sharing websites on Hubpages' list – YouTube.

Founded in February 2005, YouTube is the leader in online video. It's the most popular and boast of 70 million videos at the beginning of February 2008, and is about to hit 75 million videos soon. Ten hours of new video are uploaded on YouTube every minute!

YouTube and most social network sites have similar ways to add videos to your sites.

• Login to YouTube

• At YouTube homepage, you can choose Videos (1) or Channels (2).

• Insert the tag(s) or keyword(s) of the video you wish to search (3)

• Click the Search Button (4)

In this example, the tag or keyword is “videospin” (see image below)

• Insert the tag “videospin” in the given space (1)
• Click the Search button (2)
• A list of related videos appeared (3)

Clicking on the first most popular site will bring out that particular video on your computer screen.

Check the right side of the screen and you will find the HTML codes for URL and also the Embed code for the video (1). Right click and copy the URL (Web address) or the Embed code. Now, go back to your Hub's video capsule.

HubPages' video capsule is located on the right of your Hub page. It is one of the optional capsules that you have to click on to add on to your Hub. You can add as many video capsules as you like to complement your topic.

Once the video capsule is added, putting videos to your Hub is very easy and fun. It involves 3 simple steps:

1. Insert the video's URL or Web address in the given field
2. Press the Preview Video button to ensure you can see the video, and
3. Press Save to add the video into your Hub

The 4th step is optional - you can add a subtitle to the video that you want to show in your Hub

When you have added all the videos you want onto your Hub, the other great tool that you want to put to good use is the Capsule Ordering. They consist of directional buttons that quickly move around all the capsules you have in your Hub. They are very easy to use and remember these 3 simple rules:

1. Drag and drop to move capsules above and below each other
2. Double-click a capsule to toggle between full-width and half width
3. Click the Reorder Now button to save these new changes.
