Bookmarking should not end in saving the URL of your favorite websites and get back to them later on. You can do much more than that, if you just know how to use bookmarks like you have never done before.

The advent of social bookmarking has made sharing your bookmarks with your friends without having to e-mail them possible. You also get to comment on and vote for or against your friends' and other users' submissions. Bookmarking is now more interactive and fun.

You can do more than just having fun, though, especially if you have a blog or own a website. You can get your blog or website known to a wider audience by bookmarking them yourself. Provided that you have created an account with at least one social bookmarking site, bookmark the URL of your own Web pages. Tag them with the right keywords, which means that you have to use keywords that are relevant to your bookmarks' content. It is not only the members of your bookmarking site that get to see them, but the non-member Internet users as well.

If you really want utmost promotion for your blog or website, then do not settle for a single social bookmarking site. There are many bookmarking sites out there, so register with several of them, more especially with the major sites. To save you time and effort, you can use a social bookmarking submitter, which allows you to submit your bookmarks to multiple bookmarking sites. Do not forget to participate in the activities in your bookmarking communities, though. Just like any social bookmarker, add friends, rate submissions, and bookmark a few sites other than the ones that you own.

Do not just settle with the old ways of how to use bookmarks. The recent developments in the world of Internet have provided us with more fun and interactive ways, and we should grab that opportunity.
