Find The Right Site

Yes, there are lots of dating sites out there where it is quite possible that you will meet your true love. However, I'm not here to talk about dating sites. While I'm sure they work, that's not how I found true love. You know the saying "You'll find what you're looking for when you stop looking"? I think that couldn't be more true.

I suggest looking for websites that have to do with your interests or hobbies. I joined a website called http://www.quarterlife.com/ because it was for 20-something artists and activists. I wasn't looking for love; I was just interested in this website and in being part of a community of like-minded people. Love found me.

What did I do? I enjoyed myself, spent time on the site making friends, and was an active participant. That way people got to know me, and as it turned out, I developed a crush on a guy who had a crush on me!

So where should you look? Well there are hundreds of sites out there, it just depends on what you're interested in. It also depends on whether you want to meet someone who shares that particular interest. If you're favorite hobby is knitting, and you're looking for a man, that might not be the best hobby to focus on. Try to think of something you enjoy that you could share with a partner. In my case it was art and music. Your interest could be reading, gardening, traveling, or something related to your career.

There is the travel site http://www.gusto.com/, the writing site http://www.writing.com/, or site geared toward specialized interests like chess at http://www.redhotpawn.com/. Of course my favorite is still http://www.quarterlife.com/. Quarterlife is a site for visual artists, musicians, actors, directors, activists and people who are interested in those disciplines.

As you can now see, there are plenty of options out there, you just have to start looking. Type any of your interests or hobbies into a Google search and you'll find plenty of communities to choose from. Look them over, choose the one that looks the most interesting, and devote yourself to that one. Then, when you find the right person, you already have one of your favorite things in common.

Go have fun!
