Washing Curtains In A Washing Machine

Something we don’t always consider doing but should from time to time is wash our curtains. Yes curtains do actually get dirty and in fact you would be surprised just how dirty they do get. One way you can wash curtains is in a washing machine. This hub has all the steps for washing curtains in a washing machine.

How To Wash Curtains In A Washing Machine

Stating the obvious but firstly make sure you have removed the curtain hooks.

Find out what the maximum wash-load weight recommended for your washing machine is and check the weight of each curtain. One full-length curtain can easily weigh the maximum amount your machine can handle. You may find that a pair of curtains requires you to do two loads.

Add the amount of washing-powder recommended on the container for maximum soil.

Select a gentle wash cycle.

To help prevent creasing remove the curtains promptly afterwards. When the curtains come out of the machine, you may have to stretch them back into shape before hanging them on the line to dry. Make sure you let your curtains air dry. Do not be tempted to put them in the dryer as that will be the end of them.

Wet curtains are extremely heavy, so if you have two parallel wash lines, lay the curtains over both. A good tip if the curtains need an iron is to do this while they are still damp. Press the seams flat on the inside of the curtain.

Do you have a lot of curtains to wash?
