How To Write Articles Without Stopping To Edit

If you write articles to self-publish on the internet, the process can be daunting, especially when one considers the time it takes to write 300 to 500 words, in addition to the valuable time which is needed to edit the article before it can be published. Working from home to make extra cash means that most writers do their own editing, rather than having the luxury of employing someone to do it for them, therefore, having the right strategy can cut down on the considerable time it takes to get your article just write.

Write articles on notepad or another program where you have no editing tools. Open the program and begin typing, letting the ideas flow onto the screen as the words come to mind, and without stopping to edit anything. While this is a difficult process to get used to, it will allow you the benefit of unloading your thoughts and expanding on each of them as you write, without losing your train of thought; which is precisely what happens when you interrupt yourself to dot the t’s and cross the i’s.

Having written approximately three or four paragraphs, you are ready for the next step. Don’t be concerned that the first paragraph isn’t such a great intro for your article, or that the last paragraph is inconclusive, these two paragraphs can be written last, and they will be more effective than if you had written them in the first instance. Now you have completed your work, transfer it to MS Word and begin editing.

When you do your own editing, is also useful to use an external spelling and grammar check tool, a good one can be found right here. Read your work a couple of times after you’re done, and if possible, have someone else read it too. Oftentimes, it is easy to see that what you wrote is not what you had intended to convey, and errors can be picked out more easily if you ask someone else to give it that fresh eye.

You have now written a full article of approximately 500 words; incidentally, this one ended with a 514 word count, which is slightly longer than I would normally recommend, unless your article is a more in-depth research paper. You could make your article longer if needed though, say 800 words, then publish your work as a two part series, this will give you more page views, and those who choose to follow the entire article will be more likely to bookmark you for future reference.

Most article writing websites will require your article to be a minimum of 400 words, and not much over 500. By remembering this rule, and by writing the body of your work first, you will be able to turn out quality web content all day long, without stopping and starting the process and becoming so frustrated that lose your train of thought. Procrastination can quickly put an end to a productive day’s work, and your income, if you don’t have a structured writing schedule in place to make the job easier.
