It is old saying,"If you want to build readership,put comments on others blog of your niche".Leaving comment on other bogs is a powerful tool to pull traffic,if used correctly.Many blogger use this tool very aggressively to build their own readership.You may agree with this technique.

But I have somewhat different view on commenting.I think,leaving too much comments are probably doing more harm to our blog or brand name than making good.You will find lots of information about,"How to build traffic by comments?".But a very little has been written about dangers of it.

This article is written by me on based of my negative experience which I got in past.I put it here for consideration and feedback.I assume,people will have brain for analysis,why this will do harm to our blog.

01) Leave Comments Without Reading Posts:-

I have no doubt,most of us have been done this by many times.We see the title,read two-three lines or mostly first paragraph and directly jump to comment box.We put whatever we decided in our mind without thinking,whether this is related to full post or not.There are chances of making wrong impression or stupid thoughts,without reading complete article.

You can put another comment if realised your mistake but it is impossible to remove your first comment.Your word will remains there for many years to come to high light your opinion.Invest some time in reading post in full,understand what author want to say,if found some thing really valuable/informative and feels to leave comment on post,then only put your opinion.By reading post we also increase our knowledge in subject.

02) Put Very Short Comments:-

Many time I have seen two or three words comment,even I made it few weeks ago such as,"very well,fine,thanks,good work etc."The results I found was very frustrating.My readership went down,I immediately stopped this practice.Many new blogger seems to have a "quantity over quality mentality". Thinking,it will help them to finding visitors or help them in search engine optimisation.take my word,it will not help any way.One intelligent,valuable comment which is relevant to readers can achieve more respect and readers than very short comment.Leaving lots of very short comment will lead you to comment spam blacklist and definitely hurt your blogs reputation as a spam.

03) Always Try To Be First In Commenting:-

This I feel can actually a good practice up to some level.It is true that there are chances of getting direct click readers if you comment is really relevant to post and adding value to article published.but if you tried to put comment on each and every post in hurry,it might possible to write irrelevant comment,which results in avoiding you by author and readers.Always remember,a quality comment will do a lot for you and balancing is the key of success.I personally feel,it is true for every segment of our life.

Try to put quality comment on blog of high traffic,so some traffic will be generated to your blog.

04) Use Too Many Signatures  While Commenting:-

It is understood by every one that you can include your blog URL at the end of comment.Many blogger and website owners,provided this feature to their readers.If we left one or two URL which we really feels helping to others,then it's OK but if you tried to put as many as URL in comment,will definitely hurt the blog or website owner.Putting too much signatures is worth nothing for popularity of your blog.Even if it can hurt your brand name.

Comment section is for expressing the feelings/opinion and not for advertisements.

05) Dominating Or Flaming Comments:-

Blogging is medium to express our feeling,thoughts and sharing knowledge we have.It is not always possible that people will agree with you.Some times it may happen,you read a article and strongly disagree with content which leads you to put a dominating comment.When this comment is read by another person,he may take it as personal and start thinking negative about you.Will you create traffic by such comment? Even if you are not agree with content,put your comment in polite words otherwise it will hurt your credibility.

Every thing we do on Internet have ability of positive or negative impact on us and our blog.Commenting on other's blog is an opportunity but it is also risky, if used in wrong way.What you say? Because I am not master of this subject.
