Three Steps to an Environmentally Green Home from the National Geographic Society
61The National Geographic Society provides these steps on what you can do to make an environmenally green home
The color green has become synonomous with the environment and saving engergy. President Obama plans to save money in the health care system by making the industry greener with the use of less paper and more green technology. The National Geographic Society provides these steps on what you can do to make an environmenally green home as published by Deliver, the magazine for marketers.
Number One: Use the energy efficient light bulb that may be expensive for the duration of its electrical power makes the investment worthwhile. You will save money on the long run because the light bulbs will last longer and you will not need to use gas to go to the store to get new light bulbs. The light bulbs looks a bit different from the type you are used to seeing but just think of the savings and not having to replace the light bulbs as frequently.
Number Two: Learn more about compost. That is, using the yard debri to be recycled instead having it dumped in the landfills. Landfill debris does not deteriorate quickly and the yard debris will add to the air pollution if not recycled into compost that has been proven is good for your gardening.
Number Three: Recycle paper and plastic instead of sending the wasteful plastic to landfills. Most communities have containers especially for recycled plastics and collects on certain days of the week. Contact your city offices to get the recycle container if available in your local area and find out what days to set out the recycled containers for your unwanted paper or paper. The pick up is not as regular as the garbage pick up but the recyle days of collection addsto your making an environmentallyl green home. You save energy when these plastic containers or paper is recycled instead of disposed of that only adds to the pollution caused by the landfills.
Number Four: VHS tapes that has been replaced for viewing movies on dvd's are considered plastic and can be recycled. Do not put these VHS tapes in your apartment dumpters or set the tapes out front of your home. Recycle along with the paper and plastic in the recycle container.

great tips and ideas, I do my best of I just wish it was easier. Where I live you have to take it to the recycling center instead of having it picked up. That makes a real big difference whether or not people recycle here.

fortunerep, thank you for your comment. I agree with you that if the city provides recyclable containers it will be easier for the neighborhood to participate in making their homes environmentally green.
