Bananas: Yet Another Hangover Cure

In European and American culture, it's hard to find a more popular fruit. Bananas are as common as mineral water or corn flakes.

Bananas are tasty, but I believe that we unconsciously eat them because each ripe fruit is literally loaded with important substances, which help a lot when it comes to curing hangover.

It is a totally affordable and effective solution which doesn't require any cooking.

Ripe bananas are very alkaline and soothing to the body. It's a natural stock of Vitamins C, B6, potassium, dietary fiber, manganese. A banana a day may help to prevent high blood pressure which is a common symptom after a drinking party. The magnesium in the banana helps relax the blood vessels that cause a hangover headache. The iron is important in stimulating the production of hemoglobin in the blood.

Getting rid of hangover with bananas

Nausea is one of the commonest hangover symptoms. You could always just eat a couple bananas along with a glass of water, but that won't help much.

One of the quickest hangover solutions is to make a banana milkshake with added honey. The banana helps calm the stomach, and with the honey, builds up the depleted blood sugar levels. The milk soothes the stomach and rehydrates your body. Bananas contain vitally important electrolytes which are severely depleted during heavy alcohol consumption.

Ingredients:

  • 600ml full-fat milk, chilled;
  • 2 tbsp clear honey;
  • 1.5 tbsp double cream;
  • 2 big, fresh, ripe bananas, sliced.

To make banana milkshake slightly more elaborate, add 1/2 tbsp of lemon juice.

Try to drink banana milkshake slowly. There's no need to hurry anyway. If you gulp this remedy you will probably feel sicker than before drinking. The stomach is upset with alcohol, so treat it respectively.

Avoid adding crushed ice in to the blender. A cold shake will put the stomach in stressful condition that certainly cannot help to cure hangovers.

Strawberry-Banana Yogurt

Buy some Strawberry & Banana frozen yogurt, place it into a glass with a couple of ounces of Ginger Ale. Eat this very slowly allowing the Ginger and Banana Yogurt to settle on your tummy. After half an hour drink a glass of ginger ale by itself. Your hangover symptoms should almost be gone.

Bananas Cure Hangovers: The Science

Typical hangover symptoms like headache, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound are largely due to body dehydration, hypoglycemia and high level of toxins. Bananas' unique nutrient combination works to relieve these effects.

  1. The natural fruit sugars in bananas correct the metabolism.
  2. Bananas are 75% water and therefore help rehydrate the body and detoxify intestines.
  3. Bananas' high vitamin C content neutralizes free radicals.

One more hangover remedy based on bananas

Banana smoothie.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 frozen banana;
  2. 1 cup orange juice;
  3. 1 can tomato juice;
  4. 5-7 strawberries;
  5. 1-2 cups soy milk;
  6. 2-3 spoons honey;
  7. cinnamon or nutmeg to taste.

While there are not that many recipes where bananas are main ingredients, this marvellous fruit can be mixed with nearly anything that tastes good. Other remedies may have opponents, but it goes without saying that bananas cure hangovers.

Hi

there is an Indian tablet called Liv 52 (google for 'Liv 52'). Just chewing a couple of tablets with water, would "completely" eliminate a hang over, in less than 10 minutes. No matter how much you are drunk, Liv 52 does its job 100%.

I have been called a "Pro Leagues" drinker (as I--on occasion--drink an entire bottle of wine or up to 64oz of malt liquor as a "starter") and have known about the many benefits of bananas for some time. Though I regularly "drink people under the table," I rarely get hangovers in the traditional sense, but when I do I rely on the following:

1 glass orange or cranberry or apple juice.

1 Banana,

Copious amounts of coffee.

Eggs, toast and bacon--or bacon, egg, cheese breakfast tacos...as needed.

Vitamin C, Potassium and large amounts of liquid caffeine are the most important parts, in my experience.
