Why choose a board certified plastic surgeon?

All the cosmetic surgeons are not of the same as they may differ in many ways. Surgeons of the American Board are uniquely trained. They provide the best care and have the lowest rates of complications.

Do not assume that all doctors who claim to be "board certified" have the same training. Make sure that your doctor is certified by ABPS (in Canada, look for who is certified by the RCPS of Canada). If a doctor is certified by the ABPS this means that they have met the requirements:

  • They have graduated from an accredited medical institution.
  • They have done 3 years of general surgery
  • They have done 2-3 years of supervised work in plastic surgery
  • They should have 2 years of professional work
  • They have passed written and oral exams

The ABPS is overseen by the ABMS which sets high standards in education and training .
