How can you get a job with a felony on your record?
It can be very tough finding a job being a ex felon. You may complete application after application but never get a call back because of your past history. How the economy is today it is even harder to find a decent job. No worries because there are companies out there that hire convicted felons. These type of employers are Equal Opportunity Employer meaning they will not discriminate because of your background, age, race, religion, sex, or disabilities. Most of these companies even get a tax break just for hiring ex offenders.
So before you enter the workforce you will need to start getting your life back on track. Make sure what ever you did before, you never do again. Get rid of all your old friends you use to do bad things with. Surround yourself with good and encouraging people that will help guide you to the right path. Go back to school and start learning a skill that will help you with your future job hunt. Even though you have a criminal background, employers love to see that you went back to school to learn the skill of the job your applying for. So since you have the skill you have a better advantage at getting the job. But remember to always tell the truth on your application because that will lead you into getting your application terminated.
First place where an ex felon should start with their job search is at their local Labor Department. They will set up an agent that will work with them with their job search. They have a list of employers that are currently looking to hire people and do not care about their criminal background. This will save them time from going to several jobs that will most likely not hire them.
