The best place to find out more about your antique books is just a click away!

Up on your shelves you have some dusty old books. Are they worth anything? Can you tell if it's a first edition or not? The answers to these questions is a resounding yes! Book lovers all over the world are willing to pay the right amount for your book depending on a few different things. How old is it? What condition is it in? Is the author popular? ETC.

Now finding the answer to these questions is simple. First check the copyright page in the front of the book. This page is full of valuable information. It will have the publishing date, author's copyright, publishing house and most of the time whether or not it is a first edition.

The terms "first edition", "first printing" or "first published" are used to establish whether or not the book is a first printing. If these words or not used the next step is to look at the dates on the copyright and published date. If these match up then your book is probaby a first edition.

A great place to check the worth and value of your books whether first editions or not is http://fadedgiant.net you can submit a query online or look at the lists already available. They are constantly updating the pages to keep you up to date on the worth of your books.

Great info... and first editions make GREAT gifts.

I used to have a boyfriend that was a diehard Hemingway fan and I would get him first editions for all major celebrations.... Not only was it thoughtful, it's now something he'll have to remember me always.... mwah-ha-haaaa

tee..hee.. just kidding.

Seriously, it's the kind of gift that feels GREAT to give and as a result, I've become a habituary visitor to the rare book collections in book stores.

Best ever... Powell's in Portland, Oregon.
