How can writing about your emotional wounds heal the pain?

When I discovered this request, I felt I was the man to answer it. After all that is what I have been doing for the last few months.

On June 23rd,2007 my grandson of 18 months was killed.


I write and write to get release. It is very hard to put into words. I do know though,that with everything that has happened, and still no punishment for Jonathan's killer, I could be holding it all in and I would become a walking timebomb.

I must write and write to get it all out. I work every day and come home and write.

Much of my writings are done here on hubpages. But I do have a few other things I do too. I even gave a go at my own website.


If you have went through an emotional hurt, I would suggest writing.

Hubpages is a great place. I also write for a couple other places too.

I have many other hubs too, take a look through them;they can show you how I released my feelings.

I wish you the best on whatever emotional crisis you are having and that you would find a healthy way to release those emotions.

Blogs

There are also many places you can blog. I really don't consider these sites I listed and hubpages as blog sites.

I will show you a couple of places I go to blog. Also I play a game or two when I'm in a writer's block.

Man or woman;we MUST let our emotion's out. If we don't,they will usually build until they do come out and then it usually is in the wrong way.

I agree with you 100% writing can be a healing venue. Years ago I ran a singles ministry at our church and I was able to invite as a guest speaker an author and Psychotherapist. She had just gone through a major uproar in her life also. She told us writing down all our problems would help. According to her 1/2 hour writing is equivallent to 1/2 hour with a therapist.

I couldn't agree more. For me, writing serves to release emotions that would otherwise be directed inward (bad), or at some poor undeserving soul (worse). It seems to have the healing power of simultaneously laughing and crying.

Me too..however the hurts still is here..sometimes better..sometimes worse....but I know time will heal my heart and free my soul...once again into God's loving hands G-Ma :o) hugs

Thank you all!--Your right G-Ma,the hurt never leaves--We can only give it to Him and try not to take it back{my biggest problem}.

Dear Froggy,

What a great person you turn out to be! Please make sure your writing is not just a mind-cleansing or "numbing release" of pain. Trully healing writing leads to a heart's discovery WHY THE TRAGEDY HAPPENED, the answer to WHY ME, and it had to be. Revenge, punishment, retaliation - they all come back to haunt and hurt us. But the real answers - which can only be found by talking (writing), telling and retelling the story and what happened, are found when we suddnely understand the most absurd truth, which is, WHY. Please be serious about writing your book, it will save you and your loved ones from passing on the pain.

So sorry to hear of your loss, will read the hub now, so many us find writing helps to get through the pain...... though not many of us have suffered as you have, and I wish you all the best in your grief and your families, I cannot even imagine how hard every day must be for you..... x

Your words resonated in me so much. The person dear to my life died in my arms not so long ago. I decided to start write to deal with my confusion and pain.
