Your Own Backyard, Church-yard, & School -yard

There are many place that a lot of people do not know of that offer computer classes, FREE and they give a certificate of completion. Where, are they? These places are as close as your backyards, or you neighbors. Ask around the neighborhood sometimes there are stay at home parents that form a group (if not form your own) that will have computer lessons, they know and understand how you feel about this new aged stuff. The support of one of your peers, make it a little less frightening when going into the world of Windows, Browsers, RAM, GB, Downloads, Surfing (I remember when surfing use to be on water in the ocean), and the World Wide Web better known as WWW.

Learning anything new is so much better when learned with someone or more.

The state department of employment services will offer self paced computer learning programs Windows, Excel, Power Point. You can go as often as you like and when you can. They are always there to help you if you should get stuck on something. They will even help you put together a resume. Check also with Housing Authorities, with city, Counties, or State operated ones they offer these and other programs to anyone wanting to learn and enhance their knowledge.

The schools will also offer classes, call the schools near you to see if they do or which schools. If not at the next program they have at the school and they give you the form to fill out on what you would like to do. Computer classes, is an ideal. Do you like to work with children? Volunteer, at a school to help a child to read, or to help the teacher, Jr high and high Schools are also in need of help. Schools nowadays have computer rooms and they always need help in monitoring the kids. If you have children, in school it is a great way to be involved with there educational learning.

I’m a single parent of four children; three of them are grown with their own families. I have 8 grandchildren I still go to the parent information meetings to see what is new or being offered. I Love it and plus it helps me to know and understand what my grands are talking about when they come over to show me what they learned in school.

You can all the local township offices and ask them sometimes they offer classes or might know who would. Community Action Programs and The YWCA/YMCA also offer computer classes plus a lot of other self-help programs. Small computer business, will sometimes offer evening courses now they may charge a fee so make sure you ask if there is a fee, or hidden cost of free classes they may have you to purchase a book.

Your local library and park districts are a very good place to check, and check surrounding area ones some may not have a residency requirement. Social organizations, Loins Club, Rotary Clubs, Jr Achievement (if they are still in your area), Churches, Centers for the homeless (you’d be surprised at how many homeless people work, and they have to keep there skills enhanced), Hospitals in there community events area if they have such near you. Check colleges near you in the Women’s Center, they offer to pay for at least one class and your books per-semester. Inquire if they have give certificate upon completion some colleges will take use these for credit as a life skills learned.

The links listed are just a few examples of places that offer beginner computer lessons. I wish you luck, I’m sure you’ll do Great, in fact I Know you will.
