Let us accept the fact that the number of women who has made a mark in the world and who has made a brand of the themselves is definitely lower then those done by men around the world. Please don't take my previous sentence as any offence. seeing this I thought why not write something that may give some tips to women and help themselves establish as a brand if not in front of large audience then at least among the people they know around.

It is not easy to brand oneself, especially if one is under competition with colleagues. The most important thing required for the purpose is the self confidence. It is very important to believe in oneself. Lets have a look at other factors.

First step to in the process is to identify ones strong points, ones interest. One needs to identify those points that one is best at. After that refine it to maximum, know all the in and outs in the trade and all the possible latest happening in the business. This will not happen overnight and will require proper planning and patience. Take baby steps, one thing at a time. To climb Mount Everest one always start from the base of the mountain. Hence one must stick to the plan and have patience.

Having said that one must realize ones strong points and harness it, I would like to add that there could be more then one thing at which someone is good at but even in such case I would like to suggest that one must take one thing at a time. Doing so, one will be able to focus more on a task and hence the result will be more profound. As I said, take baby steps, one thing at a time.

What if you have become an expert in your desired field but no one knows you? It again stands to nothing if no knows about your talent. Branding is all about showing to the world what you are capable of. So never loose any opportunity in making others know who you are hence always be ready to grab your job and take full responsibility of that job.

But things do not work so smoothly for a woman. To put your point forward you have to take your stand but doing so, a woman is generally branded as ‘Aggressive’ and not ‘Assertive’ and also it’s a general tendency of a women not to pick arguments and hence when she agrees she is branded as ‘passive and submissive’.

Being oneself in all circumstances is very important for branding, be it male or female, while males are more prone to proving their opinions and making others understand in higher tones. While the word ‘Equanimity’ is something which is difficult to practice at all times. Women should seize opportunities in such circumstances. Presenting oneself and how do we react in such situations makes branding effective, a very good point to be kept in memory.

The easiest solution is networking , blogging and meeting people after office hours. But women are more family oriented and they always are ready to sacrifice their jobs than their families, her guilt quotients are always driven by care-taking persona and the divisors like career,branding seems to be vanishing into space . But how does one brand oneself better? Write articles, a white paper and make yourselves known to the other side of the world that you have branded yourself, by setting boundaries within yourselves though socializing.

Working with a set of people whom we have already worked with, having a name branded for ourselves and working with the new set of people and the combination of the old set of people who have helped us build a brand for ourselves is a one of the best ways for branding.

One cannot be everything to everyone, one should learn to ignore such comments and only focus on improving oneself, women tend to sensitize things and get emotional when there is a hiccup as these, women need to feel lighter about themselves and not take things personally unless it touches the prescribed heights of morality.

A beautiful question - Stop using the barrier, the women card should be broken first and one should start taking responsibilities for their job, make the others know that the company needs you and continue doing better that what we are doing in branding ourselves better. Just Live your life and when one makes work as a passion, then branding becomes one such a day to day activity and requires no special attention.
