Making Money With Scrap Metals

Selling scrap metals if you have them available to you can be an excellent way to generate fast cash. Gold, copper, brass, aluminum, iron.

Scrap iron is quite bulky and requires space if you're going to have to store it before selling it. I have a small farm so space isn't an issue for me. Scrap iron is priced by the ton. Copper, brass and aluminum are all priced by the pound. Even if you only have a small area for storage you can make money selling these metals.

Aluminum, brass and copper are all priced by the pound. It doesn't take too many pounds to have a nice paycheck from these metals. Gold is priced by the ounce. A pound of gold would solve a lot of problems!

Save your aluminum pop cans. Crush them to save space. It's sort of like having a savings account. When you find yourself short on cash you can always load the cans up and sell them. You can also find aluminum in many other products that you or others may be discarding. Storm doors and windows, some pots and pans, some automotive parts.

Brass and copper. The most common place to find these metals is plumbing scraps, electrical scraps, old radiators and worn out electric motors. The outside case of an electric motor is typically steel or aluminum. The inside is almost entirely copper though. A few salvaged electric motors or radiaotrs can make you a lot of money fast!

Lastly, it's time to sell your broken and surplus gold jewelry. Even small amounts will generate a lot of cash fast.

Good luck scrapping.

UPDATE: I sold scrap metal; iron, car batteries, aluminum and a radiator on Tuesday 4/22/08. I received a check for just under $300.00. It was a 100 mile round trip for me. My old truck probably used around $40.00 in gas.
