I Have always lived with animals me since i was a little child and have come to realise there are many things you can do to keep animals, {especially cats} from going where they want! especially the table!

Cats are curious by nature so don't get angry with your cat when it's on top of the wardrobe or chandelier!! They will slowly learn that what they want to do is not what you want them to do with these simple tips.

I taught my cats with a water pistol. Not a huge high powered one, but just a little one and every-time my cat went anywhere, or did anything i did not want them to, I just give them a little squirt of water and at the same time shouted  NO! and NAUGHTY! in a firm distinctive voice! I kept on doing this every time  until soon, my cat  associate the word NO with getting wet and I never needed to use the water pistol again! 

Another technique when your cat is doing, or going somewhere you don't want them to, and that's to give your cat a very gentle finger flick behind the ear!.This wont hurt the cat, but will make them learn that they are not doing what you want them to do..Remember to say no or naughty at the very same time.

Another technique especially for slow owners and fast cats! who maybe too fast for a squirt of water or clip behind the ear --To do this, all you will need is a couple of tin pots or pans or anything that makes a racket! Give them a big bang and again, say no or naughty very loud and firm!  They will soon learn!

Remember, The cat may not want to go on the table but wants to be high up to view their surroundings! so think about buying a cat stand! They come in many shapes and sizes and the cats will love.

4-Some real tips you could try are mothballs, cayenne pepper, ammonia garlic oil and a clove oil which you could place in a jar with holes which will help clear the cat from table and more than likely, everyone in the house too!!

5-Plants and flowers can work very well.. The Coleus flower releases a smell that cats don't like. The herb rue is another. You could always use citrus! Cats hate this!! Try using orange or lemon peel juice in a bowl.

Whatever technique you do decide to use, you have to remember! cats will always be cats (curious) and in time they will soon understand what you want and don't want them to do and go! It will take time and most of all, patience and persistence.
