Selling on Ebay

Putting things on Ebay is a great way to make some money from your old junk laying around or really just about anything around your house. There are millions of people making a living selling things on Ebay too. Most aren't getting rich, but making a decent living from home with Ebay is an attainable goal. But for now, let just look at some of the basics of how to put things on Ebay.

1. Sign up for an Ebay account

First things first: you need to Sign up for a Free Ebay account. The sign-up is pretty easy and painless, and should only take a minute or two. Using a valid email address and phone number is a good idea. Ebay is a reputable company that you don't need to worry about spam.

2. Decide what to sell

My suggestion is ask yourself, "would anyone want to buy this?" If you can imagine just about any situation where someone might want to buy your item, then it very well may sell on Ebay. Remember this is a big world that we live in and there are a lot of unique people out there. Just because you would never buy it doesn't mean that someone wouldn't.

With this in mind, you should go around your house and look for items that aren't too heavy or bulky because that might decrease your chances of getting an Ebay buyer - or not - you never know. But generally speaking, it is probably a better bet to put your couch on craigslist rather than Ebay.

But for those car speakers, old baseball cards, obsolete printer, etc, you should put it on Ebay.

3. Take pictures of your items

This is the fun part. Go grab your digital camera and go to town! Take pictures in GOOD LIGHT and get many angles and the imperfections as well.

Ebayers really like seeing pictures, so the better pictures you have the better chances you will have of making a sale and the amount you will get for your items as well.

4. List your items

When listing your items, be very thorough and honest about them. It is foolish to try to trick people, they are going to find out when you ship it to them. So you might as well be honest on the front-end. If you are you will be rewarded with good feedback which will help you sell more items in the long run. Remember, what goes around, comes around.

5. Ship your items!

After your stuff sells on Ebay, you will want to wait for payment from your buyer before shipping the items. But as soon as you receive payment, ship it out!

You should ship it in the a reasonably safe container. You can buy packaging material at Walmart and Target, but this is an area that you may not want to skimp on. After all, if it gets damaged during shipment, you may have a mess on your hands to deal with.

After your buyer receives their item, they will (hopefully) leave feedback. At this point you can leave feedback for them as well. If you have any other questions about putting things on Ebay, feel free to ask them in the comments below. Happy Ebaying!
