74How do you remove yourself from the search engines?
If you are one of those people that enjoy browsing the internet and like to post in various social networking sites then there may be a good chance that your screen name would be listed if you do a Google search on yourself. If you are one of these people then I challenge you to Google yourself. See what you find! There are several reasons why this should concern you. Depending on where you socialize and what you do, you can become a victim of Internet stalking or cyber bullying. There have also been various reports of potential employers who may use your screen name or email address to find out information about you. So how could you remove yourself from search engines? Well, the bad news is that it's nearly impossible! Sure, you can make the attempt to pay a service fee for a company to do this for you but why should you? Consider the internet to be more like a huge advertising board, so whenever you create post using a screen name or register a new account using your email address and you are now unknowingly advertising for the new web site you are currently using. For example, let’s say you have a unique screen name such as doppelganger20x@xxxx.com (please note that this is a fictitious screen name), and you enjoyed posting for about 10 to 15 social networks on a monthly basis. If I were curious enough and I wanted to do a little research on you, then all I had to do was Google your screen name: doppelganger20x I would then probably find a ton of interesting posts created by you. In my opinion the only sane way to stay anonymous on the Internet is to create a secondary screen name and/or email for social Internet posting purposes only! It’s important that you keep a professional email/screen name for business purposes only. This way you won't get criticized or slandered for posting what you want!
