Idiot's Guide To HubPages Referral for New Hubbers
72What is this Referral thing all about ?
Hubpages Referral Program is a very nice system, but then newbies find it difficult to understand the official lingo, at least I found it so, but now here it is, in an easy way so that any Idiot can understand !
Note: After reading this hub, if you do not understand, do not worry, it only means that you are not an idiot, because this hub is written for idiots !
What is Referral ?
Most idiots would not be knowing what is a referral ? Would they ?
Referring means recommending (usually human beings, though well trained cats and dogs are also welcome) !
What to Refer ?
Oh ! Wait! I did not ask you to refer the encyclopedia or the dictionary!
Here we are talking about referring this website (oh! you forgot the name of this site did you? it is Hubpages.com) to new users!
Who the hell are these 'New Users' ?
They can be your friends, your foes, your dog, your cat, your parrot, your neighbor's aunty, your wife's sister's daughter's son's brother-in-law also!
Anyone who is interested to read something...
Anyone who is seeking information on the internet...
Anyone who wants to be a part of a community or even many communities...
Anyone who wants to make friends...
Anyone who just wants to spend his time doing something worthwhile...
Anyone who has interest in writing articles...
Anyone who wants to make some extra money ...
(Note for idiots: One is NOT one. Anyone does not mean only one person...
you can refer any number of people or animals !)
The Basic 2 Method of Referrals
There are basically just 2 methods of Referral
1. Signup Method - Making New Users Signup on Hubpages.
2. Traffic Method - Sending traffic or users.
Benefits of Referral is Ad Impressions
Whether you send traffic or a new user signs up, the ultimate benefit you will get is in terms of the Ad Impressions that appear.
Hence, I will discuss the signup scenario also in terms of ad impressions.
Ad Impression in Each Case
Case 1. You send Traffic from Outside to Hubpages.com Home Page or to tags or general areas.
Your Ad Impressions: 30%.
Case 2. You send Traffic from Outside to hubs created by you.
Your Ad Impression: 60%.
Case 3. You send Traffic from Outside to hubs created by other hubbers, not referred by you.
Your Ad Impression: 12% (if no other existing affiliate).
Your Ad Impression: 9% (if other existing affiliate).
Case 4. You send Traffic from Outside to hubs created by other hubbers referred by you.
Your Ad Impression: 12% (if no other existing affiliate).
Your Ad Impression: 9% (if other existing affiliate).
[This will be updated as I get clarifications as there is some confusion]
Case 5. You send Traffic from Inside Hubpages.com to Hubpages.com Home Page or general areas.
Your Ad Impressions: ??? [This will be added as I get clarifications as there is some confusion]
Case 6. Traffic from Inside Hubpages.com to hubs created by other hubbers not referred by you.
Your Ad Impressions: ??? [This will added as I get clarifications as there is some confusion]
Case 7. Traffic from Inside Hubpages.com to hubs created by other hubbers referred by you.
Your Ad Impressions: ??? [This will added as I get clarifications as there is some confusion]
Time Frame for Referral
There is time frame for referrals, basically 2 types.
1. One that is for 30 days.
2. Another that is for 120 minutes.
1. One that is for 30 days. This time frame is regarding sign up.
If the person you referred creates an account within 30 days of
clicking on your link, then you get 10% of their ad impressions on all
of their hubs forever. The only thing that matters is when their
account was created. If they click on your link, but don't create an
account for a long time, for example if they come back on their own
(not via your link) two months later and create an account, then you
don't get credit for signing them up.
If anyone goes through any other referral before this 30 day period, the signup benefit will go to the original user (there is some confusion here as another user has a different opinion, I will clarify this).
2. Another that is for 120 minutes. This time frame is regarding Ad Impressions.
Any referred Ad Impressions will be yours (60% or 30% or 12% or 10% or 9%) for 120 minutes whether it be from outside hubpages or inside hubpages. If any other referral is there in between it will be ignored and your Ad Impressions will only be there for the particular time frame.
(Note for Idiots: Here your ad impressions does not mean you get 100% your Ads for 120 minutes as most idiots like me thought !)
Clarification Regarding the 30-day period
"Visitors must sign-up with HubPages within 30 days"....
This means 30 days from the date of clicking on the referral link by the user....
Note for Idiots :
NOT "30 days from the date of creation of the referral tracker"
NOT "30 days from the date of pasting the link into forums or emails"Â
