The wonderful world of hubs and hubbers
I have a hub that talks about my appreciation for HubPages, but since I've written that one, I've had even more positive experiences.
Hub Pages has changed my life in many ways, in the three short months that I've been here. The amount of support I've received already, is astounding. I feel like I have made some wonderful friends. I've learned more in three months here, than I ever would've by trying to find the time (with three kids) to read an entire book.
I love the fact that we can be who we truly are at Hub Pages. There's no need to be fake. I believe that if you're a true writer, at one point or another you will show your true colors. It's much more attractive to be honest. I've seen so many endearing stories and comments from hubbers, I wish I could meet each and every one of them and hug them:) I'm so appreciative of everyone's patience and understanding. I've been sensitive in the past, to the fact that some of my hubs have no comments. Some very highly regarded hubbers helped me get through that period of bewilderment. AEvans explained it very well, she told me that it shouldn't matter what others have to say in their comments. Most of us are here because [besides it being our passion] writing is our life! We eat, sleep, and [you know what] writing. We have to write what we know, at least starting out, it's the most comfortable way to go in my opinion. But AEvans continued to say that only we need to like what we've written, forget what anyone else says. If you walk away satisfied in your hub, that's a victory!
From my own personal experiences here at HP, I can say that this is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I've been in a dark place for many years and have finally found the courage to take charge, thanks to several hubbers that have read my hubs and left life-altering advice and support. I've never had a support system that I could truly count on. I like to have more than one extra opinion on certain issues so this is exactly the right place for me.
I would recommend this site to anyone who writes or wants to write. The vast expanse of knowledge here is diverse and exciting! Thanks HP and HP hubbers, thank you for helping me get my life back! I'll forever cherish this time in my life:)

Both you and AEvans has some great things to teach us. The advice of AEvans is to right. When you right for yourself, you write from the heart, and that's what matters.
There does seem to be two types of communities here on hubs. One - the competetive, money making, and the other - like us - who write for the sake of writing.
Hubs for me is one more thing - it's social networking in a different way

I was thinking along the same lines as Tom....it's made my life a living hell....can't put it down.....losing sleep...staying up chatting.....It's awful!!!! and I enjoy the heck out of it. yep I write for the fun...there is no money as far as I see.....and some reeeeeeaaaallly good writers here.

MissJamieD, nice words about HubPages. I agree with the things you've said here. I can't really say that HubPages has changed my life, but having a site where writers can write what they want (rather than what someone else tells them to write), and where the community is what it is here, can certainly add something nice to even the most ordinary of days.

I have only been here for a few weeks, but there is no doubt I will Never leave. The only bad part is wanting to be here all the time, darn job and stuff sure cuts in to my HubPages time! It is a comfort, many times an ego boost, and always a comfort. I have made friends already that I miss when I can't log on. I sure wouldn't trade it!

Yes, agreed. HubPages is pretty epic. For me, it's been really really encouraging that people are willing to read my poetry. I wasn't expecting that and it's a very nice surprise.

I agree with you. HubPages has a wonderful community and a great diversity of people. It seems that there is always someone around that shares part of myinterests, no matter how obscure. Recently I even found someone who liked the comics Asterix and Obelix!
There are many gems here. It would be great to have a better gem finding machine or perhaps some good gem finding strategies :)
