The rules

So, you're a blogger now. You blog here, there and maybe even the other place. You want to be edgy and exciting, attract huge readership and become the worlds next blogging sensation. Your unbridled talent is waiting to be unleased upon the world when suddenly you are faced with " The Rules "

Every place has its own set of them. Some places even enforce their rules. It may seem a bit oppresive at first, having to deal with a different set of regulations every 250 words or so. ( being the assumed average blog entry ) If you are looking to follow all the rules then there are some ways to organize yourself so that you may never fear crossing the oh so dreaded line.<insert appropriately dramatic music here>

Set a routine: Eg. Free speech blogs in the morning and censored mediums in the afternoon. If you are not a daily blogger you can set aside different days for different blogs on your calender. Many calender widgets out there will allow you to place links to your favorite blogs and it might be a good idea to link the rule page for that blog for the first few weeks as you adjust to your blogging routine.

Selective blogging: If you are worried about breaking the rules that much you can always blog at places without them. There are endless free speech blog communities out there with little to no regulation so you can satisfy that dirty tongue of yours with no fear of repercussion.

Rules on Adds: Many blog communities afford their hosting by affiliate sales and advertisement. As such many of them have strict rules on linking, posting of advertisement like materials and other peoples content. Be aware of these places and be damn sure you know the rules. Its just plain rude to exploit someone who is providing for you a free service. Places like hubpages are unique in that they let you rant, post, reply, and blog your pants off, and allow you to make advertising $$$ on the side.

General Blogging Policy: Do unto others etc etc etc. Different people respect different people for different reasons. As such, its a futile effort to say something like " blog as though your mother is reading" as some people just plain do not respect their moms < insert scolding glare here> Instead, I suggest blogging as though someone you truly respected was reading. By blogging in this manner you will be following some very basic rules called "Common courtesy"

In conclusion, I hoped you enjoyed this blog and look forward to hearing your comments. Keep on bloggin'
