Playing is an essential activity for your toddler. It teaches him many things on every aspect of life. Moreover it keeps him happy which is another very essential thing for the development of a child’s personality and physique. As a good parent, you must see that your toddler is out there playing by himself or with others.

Sometimes a child plays alone and sometimes he plays with other children. Both are necessary. Solo playing invokes imagination inside him. When he is offered building blocks for playing alone, he uses his commonsense and imagination to build something with the help of it. It also increases his constructive power and uniqueness. Again when he plays alone he imagines himself in different roles, some times he is teacher, and sometimes he is parents and what not. By imitating the adults around him, the toddler learns about his world.

When he plays with other children it teaches him what sharing is. Playing with other will make him co-operative, strategic and will enhance his co-ordination power. While playing with other toddlers he will be in need of giving instruction or sharing his ideas with his buddy. Thus playing helps in quicker language development. It will also increase his social skills which are as vital as any other life skills.

While playing alone or with others he faces problems. Let him solve the problem all by himself. This is a good lesson that will teach him decision making. It will develop his self-confidence and that will make him a better adult in later life.

Apart from mental and emotional development, playing is a good exercise for building up his body. When he runs or climbs the whole body and all the limbs are getting a good exercise. Moreover it makes him mentally and physically alert. Playing under sunshine enhance his immunity power because sun is the greatest source of vitamin D.

So do not allow him to be glued to a TV or a computer. Encourage him so that he does not become passive. Play with him to shape up his basic nature and to make him skillful. Let him play for simple pleasure only and do not pressurize him to perform well.

Playing is the most important part of their development. Only study is not sufficient.
