Healing The Generation Gap...
When your having troubles with your teens concerning the generation gap it's usually because you think they can't possibly know what their doing and that they will get into so much trouble without your help. On the otherhand, as sad as this sounds, your completely wrong.
When the newest stuff comes out and you don't know a thing about it. It doesn't mean that it's bad. It just means that you aren't sure of it and don't know what to do. On the otherhand, your teenager does. As much as you would like to be apart of his/her life and make sure they are safe you must realise that it isn't going to happen. I'm not saying to not do your job to protect them. I'm saying that you need to be cautious of what you say.
Try to learn about what they are using before listing a bunch of failure ideas of how something can go wrong. Try getting evidence and then approaching the situation. Teens may not listen to their parents, but it's because we truly beleive they don't know what their talking about when it comes to the latest technology. However, when you research it and get advice from skilled people other than yourself then it can help you out in helping you teen.
I'm not saying this applies to all teenagers either. You as the parent know your child best, yet because of that you may need to find someone else to back up what you say. So they're not yelling at you but at someone who you went to.
I hope this helped out and if you need anymore advice leave me some comments and I will answer them as soon as possible. Thanks for the request. I'd love to see many more.

This is a nice peak at the generation gap between adults and teenagers that is often approached from a sociopsychological perspective that often borders on being too academic. I commend you for writing about the subject as you see it - which should enlighten us adults how teenagers like you think. Thanks for addressing this request and I hope you had fun and learned while writing it. Keep 'em hubs coming, they would keep me in touch with how the future of the world are doing :D
Wow Cris A, I feel like a total ass! Sorry Espian, sometimes I think that I don't see or read what is really important and sit up on my high horse thinking maybe I know something.
Yes, keep those hubs coming, I do want to stay in touch with what our future generations are doing and thinking. Maybe there is still hope. Bless you Kid!
Espian, I also have highlighted the difference between generations here:http://hubpages.com/hub/Spoiled-Generation-Y
Great hub, because it is quite important to be able to "connect" with other generations regardless of the differences, especially when it comes to parenting!

Do you know what "generation gap" mean? I see your take here on it being technology but I really gotta tell you those old folks your talking about not knowing anything about the newest technology...hehum...they are the makers of it, so...
If you like to read at all, I suggest "Great Expectations". Not the Dickens novel or whoever wrote it but the one about the baby boom generation. ;) If you want adults to understand you, you need to understand them first if you want to get anywhere in closing the gap.
