What type of home based work at home opportunity do you want?
Some of the things to look for starts with what type of work you are looking for online, do you want to type, write or do you want to talk and set appointments. See the job boards like Monster, Career Builder, and more have listings for telecommute, telework, freelance work, work at home and business opportunities. So if you look at the ads being displayed on the main page of the site you will notice these types of job announcements.
So the first rule of thumb is to realize that just because they are listed on a major job site does not mean they are legitimate jobs. Basically if your company has enough money to pay for top ad placement then you will get listed. Job boards will say that they screen the companies before they post them. But they can not catch them all. Some bad apples slip through the cracks.

Good Morning RA,
Thanks for sharing several great points and websites on searching out legit HB opportunities.
Best always ......
basically any stranger contacting you and offering you anything should be viewed with HUGE suspicion. If it comes in an email DELETE DELETE DELETE. Use your network of REAL LIFE contacts to get work.
I would love to work from home. It's a dream of mine. The only way I can think to do it safely is to become independently wealthy so I can write and invent.
Another way is to type in WAHM in the search engine, it usually lists some good work for stay at home moms and dads.
