How to Bath Your Dog
52Have Lots of Dog Treats!
Today I decided, was bath day for my two dogs. These are big dogs. Husky/sheppard/paranese cross. One is 85 pound and the other is 65 pounds. They do not do well going to a groomer, and most groomers around my area, don't groom large dogs.
So, it is up to me to give my dogs a bath. By July, they need something!. Today was a warm, but overcast day, so I dressed in my shorts and old tee shirt. Armed with the hose, dog shampoo, and the brush I leashed one dog to the fence post, and proceeded to spray her down. (Keeping in mind that with the hose left out all over the yard the water is warm) Quickly shampooed her, then of course comes the shaking, so now I am full of shampoo, rinse her, and she makes sure to shake each time I get close. So, now I am covered in suds, and need a rinse myself.
Put her back in her pen, and get started on the other one, only to realize that the first one. Sookie, has run in her pen to the corner and is quite contently rolling all over the grass, then into the hole she had dug, and comes up looking like a mud cake..
So, finish the second one.. Sasha, leave her leashed to the pole, and start the process again with Sookie. By now I am soaked.. find some old towels, and towel them down. Go to take them in the house, and a cat runs by, so Sookie gets away from me, and goes through the weeds and brambles, then comes back... SUCH FUN trying to get a clean dog.
Deal with her again, then dry her off, give up and just let them in the house to finish drying in the basment. Now we have clean dogs, but my house smells like a kennel after a storm!
Think I will give the groomers another try next time. I now have a mound of wet towels, and my wet clothes by the washer, now I am tired!
