How to Become Mayor
74At some point in your life, you will feel the urge to become a leader of something. Maybe it’s becoming the coach of your son’s soccer team, or opening up your own business. Or maybe it’s something bigger, such as to lead one’s own city, as Mayor.
This Hub is for those who have high dreams, ambition, and the urge to be a leader of something big. However, I am not going to kid you, it is definitely not easy nor is it a one-time task. One has to be aware of the difficulties that they have to conquer which include the requirement that one should have a good amount of money, know-how of the city and its people and above all, have charisma, accommodating personality, and/or leadership skills. I would like to add a side-note here though; it is much easier to become a mayor of a small city. Also, another side note, in some cities you do not need a college degree to become Mayor.
The following steps may be of help to that highly anticipated position in the city;
1. You must get informed on the affairs of the city council; this may include times of elections, and annual general meetings among others. You must also know the affairs and landscape of the city you wish to lead. I would recommend that you have lived in the city for a period of time; it is very embarrassing to contest to lead a city that you know nothing about.
2. Next, it is almost impossible to get a direct pass to the top seat. One has to start from a lower position, such as an alderman or councilor, and advance to a higher position as time goes on. Basically, one has to make his/her presence felt and get enough acknowledgment to cruise them to a mayor position.
3. Third, listening to the peoples’ needs and working out an effective plan to solve them will be a plus. You should also associate yourself with the top-known people within the city. This influential people will help you get easily recognized over a short period.
4. You have to present a petition to get as many signatures as required to help yourself to be included in the ballot. Go to your City Council to learn what you need to do to get included in the ballot, requirements vary city to city)
5. When choosing the party to run on, you should consider that which has a majority of followers. This will not only keep you a step ahead but it will also assure you of financial support to see yourself through the elections. Think of it this way, if McDonalds is to give a free Football hat to anyone that orders a Big Mac in Washington D.C., would the hat have a logo of the Cincinnati Bengals or the Washington Redskins?
6. Setting up a campaign team will ease the workload and give more time for tackling sensitive issues which include looking for financial supporters. One should consider using campaign banners, billboards and road signs.
I hope this Hub helps out all of you that want to become Mayors, or at least gives you some information of how to become one.

Yes it is, and that's why it was so easy writing it [lol].
Being serious now, this hub is mostly for entertainment purposes (although the information is accurate and you could become a Mayor by following this short set of instructions), and I did not know most of the things on here until I had done research on it a couple weeks ago. Once you read over the hub, it seems like it is common knowlege, but it really isn't to the common person. For example, I didn't know that someone could become Mayor with just a High School Diploma. I also didn't have a clear idea of the steps I would have to take if I wanted to become Mayor(at least the order of the steps).
After rereading this hub however, it does sort of seem like obvious information, but then again, there are instructions on " How to Make a Bologna Sandwich: 9 steps - wikiHow "
I don't know about you, but making a bologna sandwich is more obvious than how to become Mayor, yet theres still a blog on how to do it.
Just saying, there's always one person that benefits from a hub/blog, no matter what the topic and how obvious it may seem.
Thanks for your comment.

Isn't all of this somewhat obvious?
