Several ideas and techniques to train yourself for a better singing

I bet you do want to be a better singer and strive for improving of your own knowledge and techniques. Yes, there are some you should stick to:

1.Breathing technique is very important one. Being a singer you understand that there is breathing technique you are to apprehend to make your singing more profesional. Proper breathing allows you to loosen up the airways which prepares you for "easy" singing. Start with a deep breathing to make your lungs open. Make sure your breath comes out of diaphragm and not from the chest! It enables your lungs with more air helping you to hold your notes longer and easier. Breathing must be slow and steady. It would be more helpful if you breath like this all day long and watch your breathing. Don't quit your practicing!

2. After you practiced your breathing try to go through ascending scale and check whether you are matching your notes. You know that any action starts from thinking. First you have it in your own mind before you produce anything. Hence, before you start any singing, imagine in your own mind you sing correct and match all notes. By practicing that don't overload yourself with warming-up or else you can damage your voice. Practice scales up to the point when you feel youself comfortable.Stop, when you experience any discomfort. Expand your range within time.

3. There is an excercise to practice proper breathing as well. It calls "lip rolls" which helps you to control the air coming out of to be expelled from the lungs through the folds of the vocal chords.Place your lips gently together and start expelling the air like a child when it has teeth growing. Child makes "raspberry" sound. Don't strain your lips but relax.

4. Apply this lip roll exercise to a musical scale. The air should be forced out within almost "humming" the note of the scale, slowly moving up the scale, and then back down.

5.Proper breath support. When you breathe in, watch that  your diaphragm  moves down and your navel moves forward. When you breathe out your navel must move back, your diaphragm up and your diaphragm should be tight. Make sure your rib cage is not expanded and your throat is relaxed. Proper breathing will keep you from damaging your voice as well.

All mentioned above techiniques are important but basic ones. The main secret is: the harder one works the more proficient one becomes!

Tips on How to Reach High Notes

1. Choose the song where you have difficulties to sing high notes and would like to be able to do. Make sure you have a mp3 of it. Download 'Transcribe' or other similar software. Transcribe! offers many features like making the transcription job smoother and easier, including the ability to slow down music without changing its pitch, to analyse chords and show you what notes are present, and the capability of adding markers and textual annotations so you can easily navigate around the track. Transcribe! also has a piano keyboard displayed on screen which you can click to play reference notes.

2. Go to the problem part of the song and fix it (I like to loop to be in rythm)

3. Decrease the pitch to a comfortable level.

4. Start singing very quiet, then raise the volume gradually.

5. Step the pitch up a half note and repeat step 4

You shouldn't become nervous if you slip into falsetto or wobbling.

The main thing is being as relaxed as possible and don't push and tense, but let the resonance make the volume. Don't let it discourage you and continue singing. Within time when you are getting better just concentrate on singing clean and on pitch. Don't forget to make experiments on different sounds: big sound, twangy sound, nasal, round and distorted etc... Let this be a playground and a lab for your voice.

The best Vocal Warm Ups Technique

To my opinion one of the most common discomfort we have while singing is vocal tension. It makes our singing so inconvinient!

Good news there are good exercises to help you get rid of this tension. Of course, your voice won't be changed in any case, it's yours by nature, but it's possible to make your singing comfortable.

Simply try to sing 5 tone scale saying the words : " one, two, three, four, "

Don't overload yourself while singing. You have your own comfortable range. So, sing in your range those one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, one...

To make this exercise more efficient you should not just sing them but speak these words on pitch. Imagine you talk first word "one" and hit a note with this word. And then sing talking word "two", but a note up. Make sure you've changed the pitch slightly...

"Know-how" of this exercise is inderstanding of singing process. While you sing pay attention that your singing is very close to talking.I mean it must be natural. Have you ever noticed other people sanging very tensely? They held themselves, their chin and opened their mouth unnaturally. They never act themselves like this while tallking. They are deluded by thinking they should sing differently than talk.

Of course, there are some differences. Actually, singing and talking are very similar like brothers.

If you practice this excercies as proper you will realize how much air you need for your vocal chords. You will see that your singing gets easiear and more comfortable despite song you sing. Your vocal chords will close and therefore you don't have breathy sound while singing.

Try to practice this exercise in an easy range keeping in mind that it should be very close to talking. Do it for a while and you will see how enjoybale and easy singing can be.
