Is your PC or laptop taking too long time to start? If yes, then the reason is due to many programs and window services that are configured to run during start up. There is a solution to boot up the computer quickly.

When we turn on the PC or the laptop, many programs installed in the computer are set to start as soon as the computer is started. This causes the computer to boot up very slowly and also occupies too much RAM memory. To avoid this delay, use Autoruns 9.0 utility from Microsoft.

You can also do this manually by going to the start-up folder and clearing all the programs and registry entries, but the Autoruns 9.0 is a better utility to clean them all at one place.

This is how it looks when you start this Autoruns program.

Autoruns Utility Program from Microsoft.

Autoruns shows the programs and registries that are configured to run when you switch on the computer. Just unmark the programs you don’t want them to be run at startup.

You can download the free program AutoRuns for Windows here.

I tried this program, it works like a charm, but some of it is too advanced for me like the registries, so I left them alone. If you are familiar with Registries, please leave a comment or write an article for us will be useful for everyone. But it was easy to remove some of the programs which were taking too much time to load and also occupied unnecessary RAM space.

Abinaya, thanks, initially it used to take 10 minutes, I have too many programs in my computer, now it takes less than four minutes, not bad :)

Autoruns is a great tool, but it should be used with caution. As you noted there are some things you did not know and did not touch. I am glad to hear that, many users get this tool and inadvertantly kill their computer by disabling system necessary startups. This is a tool for mare advanced users or to be used with instruction from an advnaced user. A decent tool for the average user is StartupInspector.

I have a small write up on start ups here: http://www.pc-maintenance-guide.com/slow-boot-clea

Sorry if you think this is spamming your hub, but it is relevant information. If you need more info onthe autoruns I would suggest 1st reading the info on the Microsoft site and then contact someone who can help you. Doing a full wirite up on the functions, features and items in Autoruns is a big job ;-)
