How to Burn Calories with Little Effort
61Subtle actions to burn calories
If the thought of burning calories to lose weight conjures up sweaty workouts, and Jane Fonda aerobics, dont panic!
Although these sessions will definitely burn calories, there are subtle things you can do during your daily routine to speed up burning calories!
When you sit at your desk, try sitting up straight, hold on to the seat of your chair, and slowly lift your fit off the ground, about an inch or two.. just enough to feel this exercise in your abdomin. Hold for a few seconds or as long as you can. This is what I call a "chair sit-up". Then put your feet back down, and do this whenever you think about it at your desk. Make it a routine, that if you sit for more than 10 minutes you have to do one of these.
This will not only burn a few extra calories, but will also help to strengthen your core or belly.
Take the stairs at work, and run up them..
When walking at work, walk like you are late for the bus.. this will start a calorie burn.
Take a walk at lunch time, even in the winter. You will get some fresh air, refresh your brain, and burn some calories, and possibly stay away from that dessert.
Park your car as far away as possible.
Stop multi-tasking to the point of never leaving your desk! Instead of emailing a co-worker downstairs or across the hall. Get up and walk there to deliver your message when possible.
Stretch your arms straight up and bend side to side, to get the blood flowing again, and get some air into those lungs.
Take a step back when working on the computer or during stressful times, and take a deep relaxing breath, then slowly let it out. This relaxes you, clears stress, and burns a few extra calories. Get up and walk around, don't be slumped over the computer for too long.
Exercise can be split up over a day, and still have a good effect as well as burn calories. Purchase a pedometer and make a point of walking as much as possible, and see how many steps you can do in a day. Challenge yourself.
With every activity you do during the day, try and think of ways to get your body to work a little harder. 30 calories here and 30 calories there, will add up over a day, and you will burn enough calories to lose weight without any real effort.
