There are many things that you should keep in mind when you are searching for a car insurance broker.  As you drive down the street or search online, you see dozens of companies, offices, and advertisements.  How can you possibly determine which of those dozens, if not hundreds of carriers is the best?  How can you know whether they actaully take care of their customers, make real payments on claims made, or provide an easy, straightforward process in the event of a problem?  The following hub describes a number of different methods that you can use to research an auto insurance broker before you enter into a formal relationship and make a commitment that you may later come to regret.

What Does Your Local Auto Body Shop Think?

This is a surprisingly effective method of filtering out car insurance brokers that have a habit of refusing claims, not paying claims, or making the process as difficult as possible.  They can tell you which companies stress the use of lower quality aftermarket parts during repair as opposed to using genuine replacements, which companies move the process along quickly for their customers, and which companies have a habit of refusing claims or simply not paying.

This is because a good portion of their time is spent interacting with car insurance brokers and claim managers to determine how much damage has actually been done to the car.  They may be the best source of comparison shopping on the quality of service you can expect that you can find.

Check The JD Power and Associates Ratings

JD Power and Associates is an organization that is continually surveying insurance policy holders regarding a number of factors involving their insurance coverage.  One of the most important aspects of auto insurance that they regularly monitor is customer satisfaction.  They ask people to describe how satisfied they are with the overall experience of doing business with their local broker.  Car insurance companies that operate online or out of national offices are also covered.  If the company’s rating is high, you can be fairly sure that your experience will be a good one.

Speak With Local Insurance Representatives

Visit the local offices of various providers.  Each one will be run by an independent car insurance broker whose livelihood is dependent on maintaining a satisfied clientele that stays with them and makes their payments.  If they do not keep their customers happy, it is very unlikely that they will stay in business.

Visit more than one office before making your decision.  Search for a personality and coverage plan that fits well with you and your situation.  By visiting multiple auto insurance brokers, you will also likely be able to find the lowest rate for your needs.
