How to Choose a Romantic Movie to Watch With Your Partner
71It's Not Romantic to Argue Over Which Movie to Watch
Snuggling up together with your partner and watching a romantic movie is a great way to spend time together. However, when it comes to picking which movie to watch, many couples find themselves disagreeing. Often, though not always, one partner wants to watch something that is action packed or full of plot twists while the other partner wants something that is more about love and relationships and might even require a box of tissues while watching. Below are some tips for deciding what to watch so your romantic movie date doesn't turn into an argument or the "we only watch what you want to watch" debate.
The Many Different Types of Movies
There are thousands of videos, shows, and movies out there available to either rent or buy. While there are many that are not about love or relationships, many do have a second plot line about a couple. For example, the movie Rocky, which is about a boxer, could be debated to be a romantic movie because of the plot line between Rocky and the object of his affection Adrian. The first three episodes of Star Wars is another unlikely candidate because it does not seem like a romantic movie, though there is the continued relationship between Anakin and Padme.
Then there are movies that are obviously only about love and relationships, such as the movie "When Harry Met Sally". It's a funny movie about two friends who never realized that the one they should be in love with is each other.
So, before you rule out any possible movies, remember that many stories, though it may be a stretch, do have deeper plots that involve love.

Learning to Compromise
Being able to compromise in a relationship is very important, especially because no couple, no matter how happy and in love they are, will agree 100% percent about everything all of the time. There are many different ways a couple can compromise. For example, you may choose to watch two movies at once - the first movie you pick, the second movie your partner picks. You can also rotate who gets to choose if you watch videos together often - maybe this week you want to watch a movie and next week your partner can choose.
Another way to compromise is to find a movie that has elements that you both enjoy. Maybe you're not a fan of the usual plots found in romantic comedies, but you love a certain actor or actress. Maybe you crave drama but your partner wants comedy. There are many movies available that can help you find one that meets a little bit of both your likes.
Find Inspiration
Online there are thousands of lists that include the best romance movies. You can read reviews, compare different plot synopsis, learn more about the actors and actresses starring in the film and more. Doing a little research and coming up with a list to fall back on will give you and your partner something to refer to anytime the debate starts on what you should watch. Having a list of movies you both want to see will also make it easier to pick one the next time you have some free time to be together and watch one.
Enjoy Your Time Together
No matter what you decide to do, you should always make sure that you enjoy your time together. Pop some popcorn, get a blanket and some pillows to snuggle under, and be sure to discuss the different things that happened in the show together afterward. It's those things that help bring you and your partner closer to one another - not the plot line or the rave reviews a certain movie may have received.
