How to Choose the Right MLM Company

I cannot tell you how many times over the past 12 months I have
thought to myself "What are they thinking?" "Don't they own
a calculator?"

I am absolutely amazed how many good people get involved in
bad "opportunities".

I understand that I have been around the network marketing industry
for over 25 years, so I see things a little bit different thanĀ  many, but
I hope these tips will help you.

There are a few questions you should answer in the beginning of
your investigation.

(1) What do you have to do to recoup your original investment?

(2) What does a new distributor have to do to recoup their monthly
investment (auto ship).

(3) How large of an organization do you have to build to make $1,000
a month?

Find your calculator and answer the 3 questions above. By answering
these 3 questions you can eliminate at least 60% of the network marketing
opportunities you evaluate.

The numbers simply won't make sense.

If you have to have an organization larger than 5 members to recoup your
monthly investment, forget it! Even if you are able to make the program
profitable the majority of the people who join your team won't be able
to.

The next thing you have to look at is who is behind the company? What
is the background of the principals?

Let's face it there are a small group of people who have become financially
wealthy starting MLM programs and at certain points taking the money and
running. It doesn't matter what is promised if the promises will
never be delivered. 100% of zero is zero.

The next question you should ask yourself; Is this going to be a
marketing plan driven company, or a product driven company?

I am amazed at how many people can not objectively look at products or
services. A simple rule is this. The more people your product appeals
to the more opportunity exist. "If people WANT what you are selling
you will get rich". I did not say if people NEED what you are selling.

Thousands of network marketing companies have come and gone who had
awesome products that everyone needed, the problem potential customers
didn't WANT them. In general people are vain. They will spend money
on products and services that make them LOOK good.

If you wouldn't buy the product if you weren't associated with the
opportunity, nobody else will. "To thy own self be true"

There are dozens of companies operating right now that will eventually
be shut down if they ever grow big enough. Why? Because the majority
of the income made by their members is from recruiting new members and
not from sell of a product or service.

Next question HOW LONG HAS THE COMPANY BEEN IN BUSINESS?
A general rule is the more credible a company, the less of an opportunity
exist with that company. Along the same thought the younger the company
the less likely they will be around in 5 years.

The last and MOST Important question you should ask
yourself is who is my upline leader and what kind of
proven systems do they have in place to help me develop
my team? What kind of track record do they have
for developing leaders on their team
?

Let's face it most people who get involved in network marketing companies
never ask themselves any of the questions above. Network marketing truly
is a relationship business and most people get involved with a particular
opportunity based upon the relationship they have with the person sharing
the opportunity with them.

Many leaders jump from company to company based upon the best deal they
can work for their own pocket book, and pay little attention to what this will mean
to their "followers".

Please understand, a network marketing company will never make you
successful, YOU make yourself successful. However it takes just as much
effort to promote a company with little opportunity as it does to
promote a company with tremendous opportunity.

Ask yourself the questions above, BEFORE getting involved in any network
marketing opportunity and you will be ahead of the game before it starts.

Great info Dale, how many people get started in the first company that they hear about because of a friend. It's the nature of the industry I suppose however some get lucky and find a company that actually makes sense - but most don't. Great insight.

Dale, I understand why you piss people off, but knowing what I know now I would be so much better off if I had starting following you years ago.

Keep telling it how it is, and eventually some of us will be able to appreciate your insights!

Dale,

thank you for this article - and I appreciate that you posted the link on Facebook.

I took your questions and reviewed each answer in my team forum looking at our MLM with a calculator and fine tooth comb. I could quickly answer your questions with positive responses but I realized after reading your article that as a leader I have a responsibility to lay out the facts not just in the beginning but also as a refreshing reminder. A guideline if you will, the RoadMap to Success.

Even after people joined a team, sometimes they lose their focus and forget that its about building a downline, promoting a product and sharing the vision. I just want to shout USE THE SYSTEM! The biggest downfall i have seen is when someone gets some money or first success, they forget to wash, rinse and repeat. They think they have to do someting different or better. Or worse yet, they QUIT!

Hopefully continuing to send people over to read your blog and get the MLM Minute they will stay committed and share the vision with others.

Networking is awesome. I Appreciate you tremendously!

cheers

Great website.

And necessary for the many people out there who are looking.

I feel one needs to resonate with the ethos of the company and with the people in the company.

I wish you all the best in all your MLM success

Gavin
