Have you ever dreamt of riding away in the far away west, closer to the setting sun? How about riding on a horse over sand dunes and across the lonely desert, singing on the journey to the unknown lands?  Sounds highly thrilling, does it not? Reminds you often about the laconic Eastwood, riding on a sturdy horse with a gun peeking out from the holster, and with gorgeous boots that you would kill for?

Do you want to own those boots, with that rounded or a pointed toe, no lace and high shaft? If so, you are in luck! The internet sites often sell boots as strapping and striking, and you can always buy one that will go easy on your pockets too!

But before you go grab the first handsome pair that lures your gaze towards it, it is better that you equip yourself with certain information that will help you in making the right choice in buying the cowboy boots.

  • Firstly, remember that there are basically two types of boots- the classic or western, and the roper. The western style has a tall boot shaft- as high as the mid-calf, and a one inch high heel that is angled distinctively. The heel could also be a little lower, and is usually referred to as the “walking” heel. The toe is rather pointed, and tops off the look completely on a different level.

  • The roper is another form, running as high as the ankle, and is therefore of a short boot shaft. The heel is short, less than one inch, and is usually squared off. The toe is usually rounded, though you can always choose for the squared look as well. These come along with laces, and are therefore the best boots to wear for riding.

  • There is always a little trouble in finding the shirts of the right size form different brands, right? If you went to any store, you would probably find different labels sticking to the apparels, but there is never a standard size for them all. The same thing goes for boots too. The boot manufacturing companies have been around since 19th century, but they have always guarded their precious secrets from each other. They have never referred to any standardization of sizes, so that you cannot stick your feet into the right shoes most of the time. They either feel too tight or too large. You can therefore talk to a merchant or anyone else from the boot industry to give you certain ideas about getting the shoes of the perfect size without much of a hassle.

  • You will encounter these problems because of the toe structure of the shoe that you will prefer. If you go for the pointed toe, you will need more space so as to avoid discomfort. Buying a pair larger than your normal size will then be a good idea. If you go for a rounded or squared toe like a Wellington or roper, you can buy the shoes of your normal size. It all depends on your convenience.

  • Moreover, you should consider the leather before making your buy too. If you go for kidskin or cowhide, they will eventually become softer and therefore, cave in. If you buy shoes of larger size, they will become quite sloppy. So, it is important to buy shoes that make a snug fit.

  • You might even have to face slippage of your heels when you buy your shoes, but that is only normal. To avoid it, you could buy a small pair of boot. But as you keep on wearing them, they will turn out to be more comfortable.

Cowboy boots are pretty exciting to wear, and they will definitely make you the centre of attention no matter where you are! They will make you look glamorous and attractive. They could truly give you the physical and emotional make-up that you always desired!

Great Hub! I especially like how you helped readers to choose boots from not only a fashion perspective but also for comfort and how they will “wear” once the buyer leaves the store (that is, some will eventually stretch and some won’t). I hope to see more posts from you -- especially on shopping for boots to ride horses and for those who work on ranches and farms, because you obviously know your stuff!
