How to Convert a Word Document to PDF?
50You can do this easily in Google Docs (http://docs.google.com) in a few easy steps.
1. Either upload the word document from your computer to Google Docs by clicking the "upload" button in Google Docs and browse the computer and choose the file you want the conversion to PDF.
Or Click the "New" button in Google Docs and type the document and click save.
2. Once you have uploaded the word document or typed the new word document in Google Docs click the "File" menu and click "Download File As" as shown below and then choose "PDF". This will prompt you to save the document as PDF in your computer.
There are other alternatives also, but this one is free, safe and easy to use.
You can also convert the Word document to HTML, Text file, RTF, Open Office document etc.,
Another good thing with Google Docs is you can share your file with friends, family and customers by just clicking the share button and adding their emails. They can also see the document online, no downloads or no emails with bulk attachment are necessary.

Thanks Anjali, this we don't have to share it with other websites, we can do this ourselves with Google Docs. The new Microsoft Word 2007 has a PDF converter built-in I think, but Google Docs is free.
Is the built-in converter of Word free? Can it be done offline? I think with google docs, you can only do it online, right? I still haven't found a PDF converter which you can do offline.
I think this info is helpful, anyway. :)
BeatsMe, good questions. With Google Docs you can only do online right now but Google is working with it to make it work offline also very soon. I use Adobe Contribute they have a built-in converter but it is not free. There is an Adobe online site that does it for free, I will find out and let you know soon. Till then try this CutePDF writer. It is very easy to use, download it and then restart your word program and after you are finished with the document, click Print --> Click CutePDF it will print the document in PDF.

Hi, Cgull. I've seen people discuss converting Word docs to pdf's in forums and it perplexes me a little. I convert my documents in Word, so I don't understand why people go outside of that to do so. Is it because older versions don't have that capability?
Shirley, thanks, yes you are right, lot of old ones don't have pdf converters I think only the 2007 version has it I think. There are many free and paid pdf converters for word but some post ads and some are not secure enough. So it is better to use the Adobe version or Microsoft or Google Docs. With Google Docs there is no need to convert to PDF we can share it via email and it provides a link only you and the recipient can see, it is very useful.
It does sound very secure.
Also Shirley, it eliminates one application in the computer. We have too many, this one is online we can use it any time.

This is much easier than what I did sometime back. There is a 'converter' website available. I used to process the doc file thru it but now I got the simpler way to do it. Thx
