How to Cool Menopause Hot Flashes
68What is Menopause
'Hot Flushes' (feeling of warmth) due to the cutaneous vasodilation are commonly experienced by the menopausal women on the face and neck spreading all over the body; this feeling of heat may be followed by sweating. They may come onece a day but sometimes every hour; they come particularly at nght. These are characteristic manifestations of menopausal syndrome.
Cooling the heat wave of menopause can be difficult. These heat waves, or hot flashes come on very quickly, and leave you feeling sweaty and chilled.
They also tend to attack at night, which makes for a broken sleep, which in turn makes you irritable and short tempered the next day from lack of proper sleep.
Here are 3 easy tips to try:
1. Put your pillowcase in a bag and place it in the freezer, and put it on your pillow just before bed. This will keep your head cool, and help you get to sleep, especially on warm nights.
2. Purchase lavender essential oil, and put a few drops on your pillow case before bed, this will help to keep you relaxed. Lavender is known for its calming qualities, and hot flashes tend to happen more often when we are feeling stressed or anxious. Also try putting lavender in your bathtub for a relaxing soak.
3. Try to include at lease one cup of soy milk in your daily routines, if you can. I personally am not a fan of the taste of soy milk, but started making oatmeal in the morning with it, and love it! I add it to quick cooking oats, microwave to cook it, then add some more soy milk on top and a little bit of brown sugar. This tastes great! Soy milk has been known for helping to deal with the personal heat wave of hot flashes from menopause.
I recently went on holidays and didn't have my usual soy milk/oatmeal in the morning, and I started noticing the hot flashes again, so I know this works for me, maybe it will help you too!
With menopause hot flashes, there is really no wrong or right way to deal with them, it is a matter of finding a solution that works for you. Make sure you wear layers if you get these hot flashes during the day, this way you can peel them off as needed, rather than wearing one bulky sweater.
Some women are lucky enough to get through this transition in their life with no problems, others get some annoying symptoms, and many get debilitating symptoms. Since women all react differently to the hormone changes, it doesn't hurt to share ideas and ways of coping with them. Hot flashes seem to be the most common symptoms, so try the above tips and see if you can't cool down your own heat wave.
Hot Flash
Hot flashes can be a very frustrating symptom during menopause. The reason for hot flashes is due to hormones trying to balance in your body. There are ways you can alter the symptoms of hot flashes in menopause.

Black Cohash roots - Black Cohash is a popular herb for hot flashes and even depression in menopause. You can buy this in tea or in capsule form and use as directed.
Dong Quai roots -Dong Quai is use for menopause symptoms such as hot flashes. If you buy this in tea form, you should drink it at least a couple times per day to help alleviate symptoms
Vitex - Vitex has been used for centuries. It is a bush that produces a fruit that is used for herbal remedies. This can be used for menopausal purposes such as hot flashes or night sweats. You can buy this herb at most health stores.
Step 2 Eating a balanced diet which is high in fiber and low in fat is very important. You should also eat the types of food which have Omega 3 Fatty Acids such as fish. Try adding ground flaxseed to your cereal. Flaxseed can help balance hormone levels in your body which in turn may stop hot flashes from happening or at least reduce them to a lower level.
Step 3 Consider eating foods with Phytoestrogen, instead of Hormone replacement therapy (HRI) to control hot flashes in menopause. Herbs, like red clover, can be taken in tea or tablet form, which contain phytoestrogen. There are lots of foods that have phytoestrogens in them as well. Some of those foods are Tofu, Soy and beans, like kidney and black beans.
Step 4 Exercising several times a week can be a huge benefit to control hot flashes in menopause. It has been discovered that some women who exercise regularly do not even have hot flashes. This is a good reason to start exercising if you aren't already.
Try to find which methods or combination of methods will work for you. It's important that the diet and exercise be used regardless of whatever other methods you decide to try.
Tips & Warnings
If you are on other medications for any other medical problems, check with your doctor to make sure you are able to combine the herbs I have suggested with any other prescription drugs you are currently taking.

As part of the aging process the ovaries begin to produce less estrogen and progesterone. This decrease signals the beginning of the end of a women's reproductive years.
