Personalize Google: Have it Your Way

With a Google personalized page, you can have all sorts of utilities and widgets in an all-in-one environment. This includes news, your email, as well as many other goodies like management tools.

Before we begin, make sure you have a Google email account in order to use or create a personalized homepage. If you do not have an email account, go to http://www.google.com and create one. It only takes minutes.

Now, let's move on. Go to http://www.google.com, the website's home page. At the top right corner, you will see a link called "iGoogle." This feature allows you to have a personalized homepage by adding your own content.

You will be asked for your Gmail ID and password. Use your existing information, or the one recently created from Step One. Once you sign in, you should see several sections of content posted by default. This may include current events news, the weather, and so on.

If you wish to add your own content, you should see a link called "Add stuff" at the top-right corner of your screen. Here you can find thousands of useful utilities, such as Joke of the Day, daily financial advice and tips, and a lot more. Choose your desired content by clicking on the "Add it Now" button underneath each tool.

You can also import external content into your personalized page by using RSS feed (links) from your favorite websites (if available.) This means you could read your daily CNN news via your own homepage!

Tips:

If you happen to run out of space on your page due to excessive content, click on "Add a Tab" at the top of your Google homepage. This creates a new, empty page for you to bring more content into.
