How to Create a Home Office with Limited Space
74
With the technology of the Internet, more and more people are working from home these days, and working from home requires a separate space for carrying out the necessary tasks to get the job done. Not everyone working from home has an extra room to designate as a home office, and although it is ideal and far more conducive to work in an actual office, it is possible to create an in-home workplace when space is greatly limited. All it takes is an empty corner of a room to create a cozy space with comfort, usability, and professional office style.
Choosing a Space
When deciding on an area to create a home office, try to choose a space away from family activities and noise. Although this is not always possible, choosing an area that is quiet and somewhat secluded will encourage concentration and productivity. An area away from the sound of the television, pets, and kids is the best choice, and a corner of a master bedroom is an ideal location.
Choose a corner of the room that receives plenty of natural light, and move out any furniture you can live without. Allow enough space to comfortably work at a desk, and keep all necessary supplies within easy reach. Treat your workspace as you would an office away from home, and make sure friends and family members realize your designated working hours to minimize delays and distractions. Working from home can be challenging, but when sticking to a schedule it can also be very rewarding.
Office Furniture
Be sure to choose office furniture to meet all of your needs. A typical computer desk might not be sufficient. Consider choosing a desk that includes built-in file drawers and plenty of room to accommodate everything necessary to work from home in an area with limited space. Organization is one of the keys to success when running a home office, especially when space is limited. In addition, professionalism is necessary to keep it running smooth and complete work on time. Just because a workplace is in a residence does not mean it should be considered any less professional than a commercial office.
Wall Decor
Besides outfitting a home office with professional-grade furniture and supplies, give your workplace a touch of style and class with metal wall art, wrought iron wall decor, or other wall hangings that mesh well with the style of the room. Even a small corner of a room can be decorated to create a comfortable workspace. In addition, consider an attractive wall clock to keep track of time, or make limited office space feel larger with the addition of stylish wall mirrors. A workplace with limited space should be just as stylish and decorative as it is functional, and wall hangings add the perfect finishing touch to complete a home office, not matter how large or small.

Budget is certainly important. Equally important is the design of the toolls you are using. Many 'home office' products do not take into account your need to change the shape or use of the solution over time.
If you go to www.NPSG.com and look for the 'More Space' collection, you will see a long line of solutions that let you use your walls and your desktop in harmony to actually ADD workspace to your work area!
