How to Create a Stunning Facebook or Flickr Photo Album

Average vs. Stunning!
Do you ever wonder what sets apart a great photo album from an average one?
Did you know that you could be the best photographer in the world, but still create a bad photo album?
If you have ever viewed online photos, then you know that there are some people who seem to consistently and continually post amazing albums and pictures. Yet, as you also know, there are many people who post a lot of really boring pictures and albums.
Don't worry though, the difference between an average album and a stunning one, might be easier than you think.
THE KEY FACTOR
BE SELECTIVE - don't post every picture you take!!!!
In the world of photography, there are few sins greater than showing people every picture that you've taken! One of the reasons why professional photographers always seem to have amazing pictures, is because they only show people a tiny fraction of the what they have shot.
So, as much as you may love your own photographs and want to show all of them to your friends and family, DON'T! People, even your family, don't want to see every single detail of your most recent trip, hangout, event, or sight seeing adventure. If you have ever sat down to see someone's 800 pictures from their two day vacation, then you understand this very well!
Audiences are easily bored, don't make it even easier by showing them boring pictures! Instead, choose the best ones...and only the best.
If you leave your audience and viewers wanting more, then next time you post pictures, they will be excited to view them.
A Few Specific Tips & Tricks
In General - If you are posting more than 50% of the pictures you've taken, you are posting too many!
Tip #1 - Don't post multiple pictures of the same thing. It may have been an amazing sunset, but trust me, your audience and viewers don't want to see 8 pictures of it! (Taking pictures from different angles or perspectives is a great way to make pictures of similar things more interesting).
Tip #2 - Don't post and tag lots of pictures of yourself! There is nothing that says "I think I'm the coolest and most beautiful person in the world" like an online photo album of just you.
Tip #3 - Do some editing before hand! It's amazing how far a little bit of cropping can go, especially if there is something distracting in the edge of the picture.
Tip #4 - Think of an interesting photo album title. While straight forward is simple and easy, it's kind of boring - be creative and have fun. One of my favorite titles to use when I post a travel album is, "From Here to There: (travel location) "
Tip #5 - Order your photos intentionally. Organizing your photos will allow you to make the album more interesting and visually pleasing. meaning your audience won't be bored when looking at your pictures. If you really want to be creative, using similar shapes, colors, or angles, can be a great way to transition between pictures of completely different things. I rarely post photos in complete chronological order for this reason.
LESS IS MORE!
So, there you have it! Be selective and you'll be successful!
I am hoping to soon create some more pages regarding specific photography tips - so stay tuned.
