How To De-Clutter Your Home
86People collect junk and fill them everywhere in their homes. Things they will never use and will just be collecting dust. So today I am are going to give you ways to de-clutter your home.
Here are 5 Major areas to De-clutter and Save Money
1) Kitchen: Ladies, we have all seen the commercials on shopping network channels, the pitchman, the products sold at QVC. They all want to sell you something that they say will make your life easy. I don’t disagree with some, but there are only few problems with this ideas. They will suck all your money, and crowd your kitchen.
To cook a delicious meal all you need is pot, wooden spoon, knife, cutting board and the ingredients. Everything else is secondary, meaning you can do without. So don’t buy anymore stuff and get rid of the ones you have by selling them on garage sale, EBay, Crag’s List or give it to someone else who can use them e.g. salvation army.
2) Garage: We have all seen it 2-3 car garages that are full of junk. Things that have been there since you moved to the house 10 years ago. Get organized by putting tools together, gardening together, repair kits together. Keep your garage organized by using the following 4 methods:
- Bin 1 is for sale on garage sale
- Bin 2 Keep for future use
- Bin 3 Give away for donations
- Bin 4 Toss (never to be seen again)
Now that you have organized and De clutter your garage, you use it for its intended purpose like keeping the cars or even starting that business that has been put to back burner.

3) Bedroom:
Nowadays closets have been built larger than it use to be. The closet space gives us plenty of room. Instead of keeping it organized and neat, it has been crowded with all sorts of things. Namely, clothes, shoes, purses and you name it that has not been touched last 5 years or so. Any yet we continue to waste money and add to the collection. The best way to get rid of what you are not using, is if it has been sitting in the closet for 12-18 month without using, you will not be able to use it again. Nobody needs 500 pairs of shoes, you can only were one pair at a time. Especially the ones we have overgrown them if you are drowning debt.
So do a de cluttering by selling items in Consignments stores, eBay, garage sales, and the give others away. Now there are exceptions to this, in cases of weeding dresses. That can stay, I just don’t know who is going to be it. By selling your extras, you will have some money to put to good use, e.g. saving account, repair or renovation of that long awaited bathroom, college education, etc. Every little of it counts. Now learn from your mistake and don’t buy anymore or you will just be wasting more money and time
4)Toys: This one is the worst of all. We need to stop buying too many toys for our kids. As a responsible parent, this is what you need to do to De clutter your toy department (AKA) your kid’s room.
- Reduce the # of toys you buy (will save you money) put it towards college savings instead of wasting it.
- Keep in mind that kids only use 2-5 toys, collect dust and occupy space
- Get small toy organizer, there are plenty at shops
- Less is better especially for toys
- This will save your back from hurting at night from pickup after the kids
- Keep your sanity by having clean and well-organized house.
5) Storage Units: Stop making yourself very poor and making the storage unit person smiling all the way to the bank. People keep storage units for years. At the beginning, they have good intentions like keeping the stuff in storage because of a temporary move, renovation, building a house, or in the military etc. Except for exceptions, which I have listed above, there is no reason why you should been having stuff in the storage. So to de clutter, go to the storage room and go through everything, throw away what you don’t need and close the shop. With storage units average running about $50- $100 per month, when you stop giving your money away, you will be able to save between $600-$1,200 per year.

Great tips here. My biggest problem is I'm a pack rat, I can't seem to throw away things. I always think that I might be able to use certain things, so I always keep them. Ha ha.
