Mind your manners at office:

  • Avoid using loud ringing tones on your cell phone as it distracts others.
  • Activate your voice mail or divert your calls if you are busy.
  • Avoid borrowing office supplies like pens, staplers from colleagues.
  • Be sincere and committed during work hours. Try to be of help to colleagues.

How to deal with office break up:

  • Break up on a weekend: No one likes getting dumped. Rejection always hurts. Breaking up on a weekend will give your ex a few days to recover.
  • Don’t play relationship drama on office stage: Relationships can turn into full scale operas, especially when you give long explanations and reasons and reasons of why things didn’t work well, to your colleagues. Talking about it will only damage your career.
  • Don’t start dating another coworker straight away: Dating another co-worker immediately after breaking up will only make your ex feel bad and chances are that things can go ugly.
  • Take on extra work: When an office relationship ends, usually productivity goes down. So this is the time for you take on extra work, put your head down and immerse yourself in work. Let your colleagues know that you are busy and just concentrating on work.

How to deal with an abusive boss?

  • Identify the behavior: There are all kinds of abusive bosses---the constant critics, two-headed snakes who pretend to be nice, while all the while trying to sabotage you, control freaks, the screaming mimics.
  • Don’t take it lying down: If your boss has a difficult management style, you don’t have to let their bad behavior go. You can respond but just remember to stay professional.
  • Know when it’s too much: Bosses may exhibit bad behavior some times. Hey, no one is perfect, not even bosses. But if your boss is abusing you, that’s a problem. The problem takes on greater urgency if the abuse starts to make you feel bad.

How to deal with difficult people at office?

  • Don’t argue or be aggressive with troublesome people. It will only make matters worse for you.
  • Don’t try to change such people because they never like to change. In the process, you will only tire yourself.
  • If you can, try to ignore them instead. It is one of the best ways of dealing with them.
  • If things worsen, approach your boss and let him/her know the problem you are facing. However, keep this option as the last resort.

How to handle office Romance

  • If you are seriously involved with a person at your workplace, you could seek ways to either be placed at a different unit within the organization or look outside for other opportunities.
  • If you must stay at the organization, respect your colleagues.
  • Do not perform intimate gestures like kissing, touching intimately in front of your colleagues.
